Took the Viggen down to the Dyno today, bone stock 2000 with 38k, 5 door, basic synopsis of how it went between the dyno operator and I:

Operator: I think you'll make about 190whp, I had a guy with a chip and exhaust that made 210
Me: Ok (turn to my friend: one of us is in for a surprise, hopefully its him)

First Pull

Operator: What is this car rated at at the flywheel?
Me: 230hp
Operator: holy <beep> It just made that to the wheels..

Highest Number: 231whp!

Did a total of five pulls: 230, 231, 228, 230, 229

I will post the dyno sheet when I get back to my apartment

Has anyone ever come up with a good number for the hp at the crank? My dad would like to know what is actually being put out in his.

Really w/ no mods at all? Congrats on the great pulls. Those are numbers to be proud of. Please do post the charts.

keep in mind dyno numbers are to be used as a measurement, different dynos will yield different results. Average results for a stock viggen is in the 210 range. 231 wheel HP would be about 270-275 crank horsepower, stock viggens arent putting out that much. As you mod your car, use same dyno to see increases.

Dyno days are always fun.

I had the pleasure of seeing a couple Viggens dyno'd at the Saab Owners' Convention last year. They all got between 217-221whp.

You're results aren't typical for a stock Viggen. Not sure if you've done any mods - but I'm a little skeptical about 231whp on a stock Viggen, maybe the dyno is a little off.

I agree that Viggens were a little under-rated by Saab as far as horsepower numbers go.

Maybe a previous owner did some ecu work or something.

Also why did you do 5 pulls if it was a stock car w/o doing any tuning - seems like overkill.

You can see my stock dyno sheet at the www link at the bottom of this post of you want to compare.

There are no mods what so ever to this car, has stock airbox and everything.

I don't know what to tell you guys, after the first pull the dyno guy said, welp, lets do another one to make sure that first one wasn't a fluke, and it backed it up by going from 230 to 231, and proceed to make right around that HP number 3 more times.

This was done on an inground dynojet dyno. 5 pulls because you need to book in 1hr increments, I paid for an hour, might as well use the hour.

Dyno chart will be posted tomorrow when I get back to my apartment, my webserver keeps telling me Im at my quota, when I know im not!

Can someone host this for me? I think my old FTP space that I was using from my college got shut down. I guess they finally realized I graduated 2 years ago!

What happened to the torque curve?

None of us were sure where to hook up for an RPM single. Where could we have used?

It's a green wire with the red strip going to the DI, it is the thickest wire. I also had my Saab dyno'd at the same place you did a year ago.

Results are in for my viggen also.
I just had a custom IC [370*370/75 mm] fitted to the nose of the car.
Did some pulls in a dyno too see what was gained with the swap. Here is the sheet for before and after.

We had to minor changes to Fpr to get mixtures to land where wanted. So here is the sheet for the current set-up.
