Checking Engine Oil

Hi all,

The manual for the 2011 9-5 states the following about checking oil:

"Check with the vehicle on a level surface. The engine must be at operating temperature and switched off for at least 5 minutes.

Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, insert it to the stop on the handle, pull out and read the engine oil level.

Insert dipstick to the stop on the handle and make half a turn."

If I follow this procedure the dipstick reads just about at max on one side and just about minimum on the other side. What reading should I use? From the first factory fill I never had this issue, but after my first service I noticed this kind of wonky reading. I have over 1000 miles to drive this coming weekend, so I wanted to make sure I was ok.

Any ideas?

Mike
