will I get a performance gain with a K&N air filter element? The one that just replaces the stock air filter, on my 8v 900i non Turbo.

You might, but don't expect to be able to feel it!

I fitted one to my N/A 900 Convertible 16v. The only difference I found was more noise when accelerating hard and slightly better throttle response at motorway speeds.

Haven't measured the fuel consumption, but haven't noticed any improvement. The biggest advantage of having a K&N or JR filter (simular but cheaper) is that you will never have to buy an air filter again!

Not really worth it unless you have done other engine mods and are pushing out quite a bit more than stock power. I would'nt expect to see any improvement in mpg - they are only effective at high airflow conditions when you are guzzeling fuel anyway.

ok, can I fit an induction kit to my 1990 non-Turbo 900i 8v?

There isn't an intake kit available for the 8V c900. You can make one yourself, but be careful not to do a "ram air" setup - this won't work well with the Bosch CIS that the 8-valvers have.

One plus with a K&N filter is that you'll never need a new filter, as its washable and can thus be re-used over and over again.

Hi, ordered an element. I have a few other mods, such as the ECOTECH. all my little mods hopefully will give the filter something to work with. Also when i upgrade, i can use it again. Will let know, if there is any gain.
Cheers
