I've been thinking a lot about the idea of having a weekend event in WV for the upcoming fall. It's been on my mind for the past couple weeks, so I just wanted to run it by some people and see if there was any interest.
My idea is to have a weekend meet in Slatyfork, WV(the basin below Snowshoe Mountain Resort), sometime in October, 2011. I was imagining it being a Friday-Sunday time frame. We would either take an evening drive on Friday when everyone arrives or take a early drive on Sunday morning before everyone has to take off. Saturday would definitely be an all-day cruise(possibly 2 part drive), stop at some different attractions located in the area, have a planned lunch somewhere along the drive. There are some really nice roads to drive in WV, especially in my county due to the low population. For instance I have a drive the starts about 9 miles away from me that ranges 4000 ft to 4600 ft for a constant 22 miles. It's definitely considered a scenic highway in WV, so speed limit is 45mph. No one is ever on the stretch to in force it:cheesy: Back to the idea…….the meet would include breakfast, lunch, possible cookout or pot luck(fri night), dinner at the restaurant(sat night), lodging, sticker/t-shirt and access to other outdoor activities. You can either stay at our lodge which has bedrooms above the restaurant or get a group together for a cabin on the property. I'm also going to make camping an option, people are more than welcome to set up tents in our field, could be a little cold though. I know some people from the Virginia/DC area are familiar with the Snowshoe, but I'll leave some links for the people that have never ventured in to WV. If I see some interest for this type of event, then I'll make an official flier and ad.
