So do all T5 motors have a black dic? As when I bought my 99 turbo it had a red dic which has now been changed to black due to miss firing.

T5 should have a red DI.

It will run on a black DI BUT it wont the knock sensing capability's.

I've just read that using a black dic on a T5 can actually damage your engine due to the ecu not being able to read the amount of fuel being ignited by the spark plugs. Am I right in thinking this?

wait a min when i started this i was not talking about a black dic on a t5..

if you look at the arrow it points to a filter coming from the valve cover..

so i ask my question again is this ok to do.

on a t5/t7 car is this good or bad.
having a filter at the end of the valve cover not goin to the turbo?? but still having a line with check valve to the intake

i just seen that...

and back when you first answered it you left out
edit: well not necessarily "good" for the enviroment. but it wont hurt anything on the car"" so the rest of the posts i read only about DIC

grkguy89

no it was all there the whole time.... i ninja edited that post the split second i posted it
if you look back at my first post it shows no time/date that i edited it meaning i edited my post within the same minute of me posting it... hence a ninja edit

the whole post i wrote was directed to the little filter on the pcv
not about the DIC

If your pcv system is broken, I would highly recommend replacing it with an oem replacement kit.

not some stupid filter

Look at it carefully. That car still has the pcv line intact, the only line that's vented is the line that goes back to the intake as far as I recall.

probably because the turbo inlet pipe is custom and instead of running a line to the pcv they slapped a filter on it

i think you said that wrong..theres two ports on the y nipple coming from the valve cover..one goes to the intake with a check valve.and the other goes to the turbo inlet pipe..

now gs has the filter on the line that sopost to go to the turbo inlet pipe.. and the he still has the check valve to the intake hooked up.

thats exactly what i said.

the check valved line is not the one that goes to the intake.
