I have the opportunity to have my 03 Aero remapped at a really cheap price.

I have been told that the remap will take me from 210hp to 240hp and from 300nm to 355nm. More importantly thought, it will only set me back £120.

Is it worth doing?

Tough question to answer. I had my ecu retuned by a company like the one you posted here, but hes in the U.S. He has grown his reputation from good reviews and offering a quality product.

First and foremost, engine tuning is something you should do!
Second, its hard to pick a tuner.
Lastly, look into this tuner, your starting in a good place by asking around on this forum. Personally I have never heard of the company you may be choosing. Look in their reviews. I know for a fact that tuners that offer the PPC unit like maptune or bsr while good products are too much money.

I've never heard of that company before - and the 2.0T is difficult to tune - and the cost is too good to be true - I would not go for it unless there are some solid testimonials.

I'm not an expert by any means on this topic but I'm not sure if I'd say that the 2.0T is difficult to tune. A ton of companies do it (BSR, Maptun, Vtuner, JZW etc).

tbh, I'm not an expert either, but I can say from direct observation (years of listening to people whining on about T8) - that for several years after Launch of the T8, BSR and Hirsch were the only tuners - Hirsch probably got the encryption keys from Saab - I guess from what Micke was saying on this forum, Bsr cracked the encryption themselves - I think he said it took 1000s of hours to develop the tune.

Vtuner and JZW are very recent - what 5-7 years after Launch of the T8? I'm not sure where Maptun jumped on board - but their PPC is a relatively recent product (I think they used to do Ecu swaps before that).

You can argue that there were very few T8 tunes because there was no market - or you can argue that its because T8 is difficult to crack and "high hanging fruit"

I don't want to sound unduly negative, you get a lot of that on here sometimes. But T7 and earlier saabs had a reputation for being highly aftermarket moddable - the T8 really killed that for a long while.

Carson - are you sure that pcmer know that you have a T8 saab 93? It only says 93 on their website - could be T7 (before '03)

I did email the guy and gave him the precise make, model and year of my car... So I guess thats right.

Part of the reason it is so cheap is because my dad is having his Merc and Porsche done at the same time, so there is a bit of a discount with 3 cars.

Im thinking at the moment, though that I will just wait the the VTuner Stage 0 2.0T tune to be released here in Europe and go with that... Probably my best bet.

Matt are you a linear? what stage are you and how has it been reliably speaking?

Ya I have a linear. I have stage 1 and the only problem that I had was a blown vac line when I first got the tune. I fixed it and had no problems related to the tune. I'm going stage 3 very soon.

Ok, I'd like to know how it goes, I want to go stg 3 this summer. How noticeable of a difference is stg 1?

Oh god, stage 1 is a big difference from stock. bSR and maptun just raise the boost, but John does a little more than that. Just Google jzw and go to his website. Just becareful of what you read. Don't get the linear and ARC tuning mixed up.

That's not true. They do a lot lot lot more. They change a lot of engine's parameters.
They are more sophisticated than you could think of.
