Looks really good but no performance.
I have a budget of £300
so many mods available i really don't know were to start.
Depends on how much time + skill you think you have as well!
If little time: fit intercooler parts from late 8v turbo or any full pressure 16v turbo. Ensure that there is enough retard at the distributor actuator. Run on optimax and up boost to, say, 10 or 11psi. All of this should cost no more than £75 and will give you about 15-20bhp more.
More time + skill: (a) fit Saab 9000 intercooler and get pipes to fit. (b) build yourself a water injection system (c) retro fit the full pressure turbo APC system (for knock protection) which allows you to run higher boost more safely.

um....well unfortunatley mechanics are not my strong point!! but seems intercooler is 1st step.
My moter has a cat and ive read somewhere that this does reduce performance?
Removing the cat will give you a bit more power. I have an Intercooler for sale BTW if you are interested.

hi guys, im currently going to install the LPT engine to my 82' 4 door. Adding the intercooler would gain how much hp? is the Apc for the LPT diff from the T16 ones?
LPT does not have APC you have to retrofit one, that + IC should see you in T16S territory!!

Saab 9000 intercooler sounds interesting,how much hp differance from the 900?
John, will it be a hassle installing the Apc to the LPT engine? what would be the steps taken? Will the whole Ecu system of the LPT has to go?

Saab 9000 ics are good but there are better. You can fit something with a really deep core in the LHS of the engine bay so find something bigger.
This site explains how to fit the APC system on a Volvo, but you will find it helpfull...

is the Turbo on the lpt the same as a T16s?
No it's a smaller Mitsubishi unit I think. 'Better' at lower revs but runs out of steam eventually.
You will have the Mitsu TE05 turbo which was fitted to LPTs and the T16s after 1990 I think. IMHO this is a better turbo than the Garrett. Although it runs out of puff a bit early (16-17 odd psi), it picks up very well.
