Just announced!!! Saab will build a version of the 9-3 with the new Subaru 2005 Legacy 2.5 GT (www.need-desire.com ...hot new car!!!) drivetrain and powerplant. The new 9-3X named the "AERO" will have 250 Hp and 250 ft-lbs of torque with AWD and two tranmission variants (5 spd MT/5 spd AT "Sportshift"). This will be the second vehicle to combine the benefits of the two companies product lines. There was a photo posted here a few months ago of a 9-3 rebadged as a Legacy. Can't find it now :( . I think this may be the other way around unlike the 9-2X which is a Subaru in Saab clothing.
So is this going to be another variant of the sedan, or are they going to make this a sport hatch?

I was only dreaming! No new 9-3 X built from the new wicked Legacy parts. I have not been to this site in a long time (since I was looking to buy the new 9-3 SS...bought an IS 300 instead), and I came here to read about the reliability issues for the new 9-3 in the engine and drivetrain areas (looking for a new car for my wife...), looks like things are OK so far for all you new 9-3 owners (OK = so, so). I think I will give my wife the IS 300 and I will buy a new 05 Legacy GT in May or June...performance numbers and styling look very good for the new Scooby!
