: recommendations or not on Abbott Racing
Hi Guys - been speaking with Abbott and they seem to be Ok on price and advice but what are your thoughts - have you had good service? Poor service? what are they like if things go wrong (which can happen to anyone) how are they at keeping promises?
thanks for you advice.
I've had Abbott do all the mods on my car and have had no problems at all with them and am delighted with the results.(That's not to say that I haven't heard complaints from other customers) They are extremely helpful and knowledgable and if I ever have enough money to buy some more mods chances are I will go back to them.
It's probably worth checking Abbott prices against other companies before making your final decision and I've also heard that haggling might be beneficial.
They are experts in their field, fantastic on the phone, completely different when you actually turn up, ignored me and then treated me with an 'oh so superior attitude :evil: ', one of their mechanics and one of the young sons were great and helpful but not even their plus points would entice me to go there again.
Their prices are very expensive and similar goods, some giving better results, can be bought from other outlets at more realistic prices.
These are only my opinions based on the 3 times I've been down to their premises.
Also I tried to buy a larger intercooler from Pace but when I told them it was for my Saab they wouldn't deal with me because it would upset Abbott..... :nono; :nono;
Mark is spot on about Abbott 8) They are experts but they don't treat customers with enough respect and they are pricey.

I'd have to agree with both Alan and Marrk, I went down there for a service... Turned up when they had agree, and was left to sit for an hour waiting till they could be bothered to deal with me, and if I asked a question it was replied...
[sigh] sorry what?
Yep they are good at what they do, but go there prepared to be talked down to...
That was the impression I was left with...
Forget about Abbott USA, no email replies and they either don’t answer the phone or you get a machine…..
Yep, have to agree with Mark :! On the phone they are very polite but when you get there and fork ££££sss for a chargecooler you would expect their customer services skills to match their prices :! I don't think I'd use them again :nono;

Nothing much changed since 1997 then... I thought it was just me.. and I let Giles mince my anniversary around those country lanes.

i went to trent n they were very helpful couldn't have been more so in fact (dropped us into nottingham to do a bit of shopping/spare car etc) n when i was there you felt as if you were special they couldn't do enough for you
Trent don't actually do much for Saabs these days, most of their tuning products are for a Japanese rally car whose name also starts with S :D
I've also had trouble when dealing with Trent over problems with their products on two separate occasions (completely different products) and the warranty on the their exhaust system isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

I have found on each of my 6 visits to Abbott them to be friendly, very helpful and more competitive on price than their listed prices indicate.
I have been offered a loan car each time I have been there to enable me to pop out and get a bite to eat or stay and watch the work being carried out to my car.
Saying this, I have also spent a lot of money with them, so would expect good service !
I wish Abbott USA was as good as what I hear you guys saying about Abbott UK.....
Been four months and they still haven't replied to my email.

We bought a stainless steel exhast system without any problems, My only issue was with the re-enforced top engine mount they supply, it looks pretty, but is harsh and caused vibration.
They come recommended from the local SAAB specialists in this area.
Hope this helps.:)

Yep, Abbott are certainly a mixed bag. They've been really good to me recently, but I have heard differing reports in the past from others.

Oh, Abbott can actually be remarkably cheap, depending on what bits you want. Where else can you get a Quaife LSD fitted, complete with gearbox rebuild for around a grand?
On the other side, they can also be remarkably expensive...
I'll be interested to hear how many people have had the final bill of £1000. :roll:
