I have used the search and found nothing, but how do you install a after market cd player in a '94 9000?

Thanks for your help

I suggest you goto either crutchfield.com or even circuit city (i'm not a fan of best buy). And get a wiring harness. This will allow you to adapt the wires to a plug that will plug right into your exsisting plug.

I am not sure about the size of the 9000 stock radio, but u might need a plastic harness to get the new cd-player to fit nicly..............don't think you will need this i know the C900's don't and most imports don't.

my 90 9000 took a pioneer deh-8500 very nicely but everything is colour coded just match what they are.. :) but yes the wiring harnes is nice so you don't do a hack job on your existing wires.

do you need a antenna adapter also?

The antena plugs into the back of your new deck and there should be a wire for the motor that moves it up and down

If you get a CD changer then I recommend putting under the boot floor.

Thanks for your help but the antena plug looks like it is stuck in the back of where the old radio plugged into. does it pull out? And does anyone have instructions on how to remove the dash, I have some bulbs out.

Thanks
Patrick

I'm about to buy a 9000 Anniversary and would like to install a CD stacker. A search on this site hasn't thrown up and hints. Can anyone point me i the right direction, please? Cheers

So far every car I have done this on (honda, subaru, chryler/eagle, toyota, ...) has had the same antena hookup (cilinder plug). The thing is that I have never done this on a Saab so the best I can do for you, until I do my own is an educated guess. The backs of all the decks I installed have had the same style antena plugin as well, which leads me to believe that it's not Japanese, local or European specific.

As for your dash, give me a day or two and I will come up with some schematics. :)

Hi zydeco,

Is what you call a stacker in your part of the world what we call a changer in ours?

I'm pretty sure they're one and the same. It may turn out that the question is redundant as the car I'm now looking at has the wiring and cradle but no changer/stacker. I'm going to have them put one back in should I go ahead a buy.

Whats up, well I had to do the install blind, The search was no help. I guess no one has ever installed a aftermarket CD player. Anyway, Pull out the stock deck, then pull out the harness, keep pulling until you see two square connectors plugs and the anntena plug. Unplug these. Get a harness and install the harness in. This is where it gets tricky. Saab seemed to have about 10 or 12 different radio setups. In my car I have a stock amp. in the car which is under the passenger seat. So I wire the front speakers up with the wiring harness, But I have to run 4 different wires to the amp under the passenger seat in order to by-pass the amp. This is just my setup, but like I said, saab has many different configurations. Write back when you find out what you have, and I will try and help you out.

Well so far the 90 9000 uses the cylinder style attena plug, but I have just finished installing the pioneer deh-8500mp, kenwood 10 disk cd changer which is modulated (plugs into your attena, 1600watt amp, 2 700 watt kenwood 12" speakers, a 800 watt amp 2 220 kennwood 6 x 9's for in the back, 4 300 watt tweeter's 2 up front 2 in the back looking for 2 4" speaker now for up from but its all easy to install, i had to do the hack job on the back of my deck because the previous owner installed the back of the deck / stock amp for the 6 pack that comes stock with some of the saab's and who ever installed it cut out one of the wiring harnes.. piss me off lol

Sorry to hear that Wamphyri,

You should have seen the hackjob done on my previous car. It was so bad that I had to hardwire the deck!

Could well be. The seller has ordered one from Sweden and it should be here in a couple of weeks. It's included in th epurchase price of the car. Now I need some CD's!
