My friend just helped me out plati-dipping the front chrome pieces on MY07. I will have pictures up soon. The Yellow turning lights stand out a bit much, going to get them smoked or tinted, instead of buying those euro lights.
I'm thinking of also doing the door mirrors in black, and of course some tinting, and smoking the corner turning lights and that clear light on the side of my panel.
Was this done with plasti-dip spray or the actual dip? Also did you sand it before or after? The satin black looks great! I was thinking of covering my grill surrounds in matte black vinyl but this looks like a pretty good option!
Haha, that's great. I really enjoy this car. Hoping that after a few more aesthetic things that I would like to do that I may start working on learning how to mod the ECU, boost 12 psi and get it to around 340hp.
Painters tape and magazine pages. I would recommend using an exacto knife to cut out in between the lines of the car, if not you can run the risk of the plastic paint peeling off when you take off the tape and paper.
Looks good but I would like to see how long it sticks for. Most chrome pieces from my experience in the past need something to help the paint stick. Either roughing it up with wet sand paper or putting primer on it.
But great job and I hope it last for you. Also like someone else said I wouldn't touch the mirrors.
I meant to reply sooner. No bubbling up for me yet, and no I did not take them off, straight on the car. I don't like to take things off because it's more of a pain and I usually end up braking something.
Do you guys know of a good onlineshop where I can order the yellow turnlights like on the pictures above? (SAAB original only) I have the European standard grey ones fitted today and those yellow ones is hard to get a hold of over here.
Or do one of you actually have a spare pair laying around that you would sell to me? =) I need it to be shipped to Stockholm though...
nice plati-dipping of the front chrome btw. My 9-5 is black and I will repaint the chrome to a darker gray, almost like the color of your car. =)
Best regards

Not a bad Idea actually, but unfortunately I need to keep them for the "Annual vehicle inspection" (I dont know what it's called in English) that we have in Sweden.
That looks great! but where did you get the spray???
