i have a question has anyone ever attempted to shorten the shifter i have long arms and can reach the base w/out a prob and i don't know if there is one availible so is homemade sawing action the trick or would u have totally replace the reverse linkage? And any sales websites are mostly an arm and leg for anything u want.

i shortened mine, the shortness made the shift arm stiffer and easier to throw. it also could be shifted faster and felt better in your hand. you can do it by neglecting the reverse engagement wire or you can just shorten that too. do this by cutting the arm and welding it back together lower.

It's all here... http://www.pajjakid.com/ubipa/short_shift_diy.htm

If you don't want to go the DIY route I bought the Johnny G short shifter.
