I have a downpipe with 3 inch exhaust with no cat. I was reading on a site that said to have an ecu u need a sport cat. Is that gonna throw things off if i do not have a cat on my exhaust.

If it's not screwing up your stock ECU, then I can't imagine it would cause any problems with an upgraded one.

I think what the site meant was that since all cars in the US are supposed to have a cat, then upgrading to Stage 2 or 3 means upgrading to the sport cat, due to the increased flow the sport cat provides...

You are currently running without a cat? You should be throwing a CEL unless you plumbed the second O2 sensor into the exhaust somewhere...

Yea thats what i figured. A CEL? what is that. I forgot to ask them to put on the second sensor when i dropped the car off today to have the exhaust put on but i really dont care about a check engine light unless thats gonna throw things off then ill have to get it fixed.

CEL = Check Engine Light

If I were you, I'd call and ask them to put the second O2 sensor in, otherwise you will have a continous CEL, and you won't know when there really is something wrong. Also, if you have emissions testing in your area, the CEL is an automatic failure. Cheaper to have them plumb the sensor in now then having to do it later...
