I was wondering if anyone has braved the warranty issue yet and thrown in a chip? If so what brand and how do you like the results?

They are available, but IMO it's a pity to waste the warranty for 20hp only.
If there was something else, like 250< hp total,I would go for it....

If there was something else, like 250< hp total,I would go for it....You can keep your warranty..if your dealership will install it through Hirsch .. :P

I know,I was talking about Abbott.Sorry I didn't mention it...
That's why Im waiting to see how much the new package from Hirsch for the Aero will give in hp and cost.
If the difference with the other companies(abbott or some else) is big,I will kiss my warranty good bye.... :D

Guys, i got a question for you: When you "loose" your warranty because you chipped you car, what do u exactly loose. Do you loose EVERYTHING in the warranty, or will they only say that everything that the chip causes errors to will not be guaranteed ?

There's been a thread about this in the past, and the moral of the story was: Check the federal and state laws regarding vehicle warranties.

If you chip your car, and a fuel injector fails due to faulty wiring, this is usually covered under warranty.

If you chip your car, and your power driver's seat stops working, this is still under warranty.

However, if you put a dancing hula girl on your dash, and your SID stops working, this will NOT be covered under warranty ;-)

Im waiting a bit for the chip to see how things go myself.

mbodo im finding my dealer is pretty leniant with mods but they say Saab wants their hands in all aspects of these new SS's and if they find anything to be modified they wanna know all about it, thus makin it hard on the dealer/service.

My service manager has been in contact with Abbott with the ECU upgrade. While I was there on Wednesday. I found out the owner of the dealer. I have talked to him many times. He has raced Volvo's and SAAB's in the 60's and 70's. The whole showroom is coverd with old auto memorabilia. He has a Sonnet and a couple of really old Volvo's too.

So any luck about the upgrade? I really want there to be a reliable and effective ECU upgrade. I hate that VW/Audi 1.8T's have 250-300hp easily accesible via chipping. I'm just itching to put my new wheels and tires to full use with some more power.
