Hey everyone i was hoping i could get some ideas as to what i should do to my car. its a stock 03 arc. so other than the turbo its a pretty normal car. i want to get better acceleration at higher speeds and or just better acceleration. would a cold air intake do much? and would i notice much difference? i dont have to much money to do any stage kits or anything yet.

Save your money. You won't feel a thing with an open air intake.

Save your money and get the JZW tune for $399.00.....Just got mine done and you can deifinitely hear the whine of the turbo (which is all you will get with the intake)!!

I wouldnt feel a difference at all? i thought cold air intakes add about ten extra hp to the wheel. what does the other one do?

Air intake on our car give nothing exept sound...

You should buy a tune (bsr, nordic, maptun, MPperformance, jzw.....)
Now you will see a real difference and hear the turbo !!!

I am going to say a tune also, The stock air intake system in our cars is not a bottle neck, so therefore it wont add horsepower. Only sound.

Tunes and Downpipe/exhaust will be the way to go for you if you want better acceleration.

What would be best and cheapest of them all? (Im not a cheap guy, just trying to save money for bills and school lol)

Well considering that most people buy a tune and dont buy another one, everyones opinion will be biased. I love the JZW Tune, and it is one of the cheapest. It also helps that he just lives and hour away from me, so I didnt have to mail in my ECU and be without my car for a couple days. John at JZW knows someone with a BSR tune though, and he is has driven both cars (mine and the BSR) and he is confident mine will outperform the BSR tune.

If you are cash strapped, you could have a look for the wilder mod on this forum..some testify to it being a worthy performance enhancement..but it is a little involved and I dont believe there were any before and after dinos to demonstrate a long term power improvement.

right now i have full 3in exhaust intake fmic and there are not any very noticable power gains at all because the car gets use to them and settles you could run wilder mod which is about 40 bucks, but a tune would do you much better jzw offers a cheap and effective tune.

I have researched tunes since '04 and always found them to be too expensive (elk parts bsr tune).....In fact, from what I remember, BSR was the only tune available at that time (approx. $1100.00). I just could not justify spending that money for 204hp (175hp stock). So, after reading alot of info on SC and joining SC, I hear about all these other tunes and talked to linear 777 and Saabstory about JZW. The most important points the JZW tune covered were 1) price 2)217hp 3)reputation.....And not necessarily in this order. I live in Florida, asked many questions of John (JZW), mailed in my Ecu and received it 2 days later. My car sounds better and performs the way it always should have. Hell, now I cant wait to get the money together for a full 3" exhaust, aero injectors and stage 3 tune with JZW (267hp). BTW, my car with the jzw tune will smoke any stock 2.0T!!

Well the jzw def sounds like the way to go. Except since your driving the linear which stock has only 175 hp, and im driving the arc which stock already has 210hp, would would the jzw still be a good route?

No its not a good route....ITS A GREAT ROUTE! :lol: I also have the 210HP motor, and after the stage 1 tune I put down 210hp to the wheels with 280lb ft of tq. which should equal around the 240hp and 320tq mark at the crank.

I think "linear 777" had a jzw stage 1 dyno performed. I would like to if I could find it cheap enough; Otherwise, I will use the money toward other mods!

Stage 1 reads: 243bhp and 322 ft-lbs of torque

322 ft-lbs is equal to 436Nm. However, the F40 gearbox is factory rated at max 400Nm. How this high torque can be handled by the gearbox?
Do I suspect premature failure here? Let's not forget that the F40 is not repairable. Saab do not give any spare parts for this gearbox. You just pay 6500 euro to replace it with a new one or try to find a used one in good condition.
What is JZW's comment on that?

I assume the graph is from an LPT and not from an Aero.
I was questioning the Aero JZW tune.

Anyway, the graph shows that power curve does not drop so steep after 5000 rpm.
What model year is the car?

Actually, I have the LPT (2.0t) Which is a garrett gt 2052, but the graph is for the HPT (2.0T) and should be a Mitsubishi TD04HL (also in the '03 aero). The numbers on the graph should be at the wheels and not the crank. Again, feel free to email John with JZW as he is very informative and helpful.

The graph is from my 2006 2.0T when I was at stage 1, and that is at the wheels, not crank. Stock 2.0T's put out about 170-175 to the wheels. The place where I had got my dyno done has done a stock 2.0T but he wasnt able to find the file while I was there, so I wasnt able to get a comparison.
