Where exactly is our intercooler?

I followed some of the piping and it looks like it is on the same side of the car as the air filter is but looking from the front of the car there are no vents or inlets to allow air to pass through. Is it behing the radiator?

Its between the AC condenser and the radiator. Its really thin. My local mechanic looked at my car. He said, there is plenty of room for the FMIC. You might have to move some AC lines though?

Thanks Finkle.

I would like to get a FMIC but only if someone comes out with a reasonable priced one. The current one for $1,600 is a little much for me.

I don't understand why its so much :-? The other ones they make for the 98-02 9-3 run about $900.

In the past have these provided a good increase in power/speed?

Check out the quality and prices of the parts available to Mitsubishi EVO owners. Scroll down the page to see the $750 IC upgrade:

Yeah, I haven't been to impressed with Speedparts products for the SS. They seem to be way overpriced for the quality of the product. I have seen the parts they make for the older 9-3's and 9-5's. I wonder why the parts for the SS look cheap and are alot higher then the other aftermarket parts.

basic economics. Nobody is buying speed parts for the 9-3 yet, manufacturers make fewer of them at an increased price to cover R&D.
