Hi , new to this forum, but have admired the cars on here for a very long time. I finally got my first Saab, a 94 900I Convertible (probably the last 900 registered in New Zealand) but it is going to be awhile before its on the road again. Actually, i hope it will be done by end of this year when it is Summer time in New Zealand.
Few things to tackle, new windscreen , rust repairs and then alternator.
Here are pics so far.

along the way I would definately consider getting aero side skirts mounted and making it a "Monte Carlo `vert".

congrats`, that is a great car to start with. It`s definately one of the ultimate c900 - convertible, monte carlo yellow ... go ahead and make it perfect!

Welcome - I have been watching that advert and was even thinking about selling mine and buying that one as that one is a manual.

The comment about the side skirts is right. But the little clips that go in the body work are a gold plated price.

Oh and as you see from my avatar, same colour as mine. They really stand out.
I just got a screen made for between the seats to stop air swirling back.

Ha ha true, those wind deflector prices are quite high so best to have one made as you did , are you i the Sth Island? Always loved 900s so was pretty chuffed when i got this.

In regards to the comment about the colour, i always loved this colour, more of a reason to save her lol. For some reason non-Saab enthsiasts dont seem to like this colour as it stands out too much.

Yes, south of the south, by Foveaux strait!

yes wind deflector cost me 220.00 made of clear plastic with headrest covers to hold it on at the top and a steel wire between the seats. Almost looks factory. Maybe I will also get a cover made for the roof when it is down.

How bad is the bonnet for rust, also check under the rubber flap that is mounted to the bottom of the doors. Mine has a little bit there, good thing is when it is fixed you can't see it. All hidden under the rubber and underneath the car.

I am just goin to get a new bonnet and repaint it, too much rust on existing one. There is indeed rust at the bottom of the drivers door near the drain hole. Otherwise nothing structural.

Ha , ha , that is my Citroen BX. I dont think you guys got any there in the US ,except one guy on the BX forum has one that was grey inported.
That car isnt as low as it can be anyway in thoses pics, it has factory hydraulic suspension.

Wow, another American who likes the BX! I am amazed. This red one is prettttyyyy :o Most of our countrymen despise this look, but I've been in love with these and all other CitroŽns made before the turn of the millennium ever since I saw my first 2cv in France. If you like the BX, you'll also like these other cars by CitroŽn:
CX
XM
GS
Possibly the SM
Possibly the DS
They all have hydraulic suspension, so they are not so low when the engine is on and the system has pressure. Some hydraulic CitroŽns even came with adjustable ride height. The later ones have a system by which body roll is virtually eliminated, while soft ride quality is maintained. Modern technical marvels, and beauties to boot.

Hi Rawill, i indeed have seen the thread, very impressive i have to say.

Hey euromobile900, thanks for the commments about my citroen. Mine does indeed have adjustable ride height and like people US, most Kiwis dont appreciate these beauties, which is how i managed to pick mine up for NZD$750.

Its funny how people react to something that is slightly unusuall isnt it? Same case with the SAAB, my buddies are like why is the engine backwards? Why is the windscreen so steep? why is it yellow? why is the spoiler round the rear window and not the edge of the trunk? Why is the engine north south when its a front wheels drive car?

Soo many questions that make ownership more interesting than ,owning a Toyota Corolla.

Another more than nice monte carlo! and a genuine one too. Mine will never look that good. I don't have the patience or the finances to do it!

What year did you have it at Beaulieu, we were there in 2007, I would be gutted if I missed it!

I most certainly have seen , (salivated over!) the Monte Carlo on UKSAABS and your website. Full admiration for your efforts to restore her, she looks good with the Super Aeros too.

I go to Beaulieu every year (live 5 mins away from Beaulieu and my workshop is only 15mins away in Romsey!)
I displayed the MonteCarlo and the 99 Turbo last year.

hopefully I will have a Carlsson on display this year that i'm about to start, built to the same standard.

If you're visiting Beaulieu again drop me a line so we can meet up for a drink or pub lunch. (open invite to anyone)

Ok , so i opened the car's trunk today, and to my surprise i found this in it. A genuine tonneau in it's original carry case.
