: What Wheels
MPWhalen 26-11-09, 11:36 AM Hey, I've got an 02 9-3 SE that I'd like to upgrade the wheels on. The car is polar white, so any suggestions on what wheels might look good on it? I wanna stay at 16's. Maybe post some pics of what you have on yours.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Mike

saabchilten 27-11-09, 12:15 AM 16" doesn't leave too many options, but i do really like the three spoke split (http://www.patrickaccessories.com/productdetail.asp?ProdId=1466&mcid=2&cid=207&scid=253&modelyear=1998-2002). there's the popular viking (http://www.patrickaccessories.com/productdetail.asp?ProdId=1643&mcid=2&cid=217&scid=255&modelyear=1994-1998), the seven spoke bbs talladega (http://www.patrickaccessories.com/productdetail.asp?ProdId=1457&mcid=2&cid=217&scid=255&modelyear=1994-1998), and the rather plain three spoke (http://www.patrickaccessories.com/productdetail.asp?ProdId=1639&mcid=2&cid=217&scid=255&modelyear=1994-1998). i've got the rather rare super aeros (http://www.patrickaccessories.com/productdetail.asp?ProdId=1638&mcid=2&cid=217&scid=255&modelyear=1994-1998), which i love, but i dunno how well they'd suit the 9-3 styling. all are 16"x6.5" and fit the 9-3 bolt pattern no problem.
soccerrplyr 27-11-09, 09:05 AM I have the three spoke and rkII rims for my white 2000 93se if yu want to take a look http://www.cardomain.com/ride/668055/1
saabchilten 28-11-09, 05:16 PM interesting list of mods there. there's such a thing as e code fog lights?:o love the rkIIs, but i don't think i could ever pull them off.
soccerrplyr 28-11-09, 09:20 PM not 100 percent sure about the fog lights but they have the same symbol as my e-code headlights and i bought them off of ebay uk because they were cheaper than in the US. i got both of them for 180 new/shipped.

dang.
you know there are some 18x8 ultraleggeras out there that are only 17.8 lbs. that's reeeediculously light for an 18.
Rennsport1 29-11-09, 01:41 AM VOX MB, 17X8s, so far so good...

Yep, it's those. They come in 17's or 18's. You're right, they are so freaking light - those are a good 5-6lbs lighter than the average I'd guess.
Paul Campagna 29-11-09, 08:37 PM put my winter tires on the 900... I like the look for winter. 16" wheels.

Mister Bean 29-11-09, 09:32 PM I can't find a picture of them on my car, but the 9-3SS Arc 16" 10 spoke wheels look pretty good on it.

comtrang 29-11-09, 09:41 PM My favorite Saab OEM wheels and probably my favorite for a Saab are the double 5 spoke from the Aero's.
mathblaster 02-12-09, 03:49 AM I'm in the market for some new wheels too. Some 17's or 18's, something that isn't too heavy, too expensive, and doesn't have a rep for being soft/weak. (Maybe I'm just dreaming with those requirements)
Are there any brands I should stay away from? I would hate to drop a pile of money into wheels just to have one dent in a pot hole. Although I doubt I'll spend a pile of money. I usually find some sort of ridiculous deal somehow...
I think a set of BBS, Koning, or OZ might be worth looking into. I know there are other good manufacturers, its just a tricky lug pattern to find.
Rennsport1 02-12-09, 03:55 AM For SAABs ASA is also good. I like the Voxxs so far.
tdrudd87 02-12-09, 07:54 AM Math- Check out Team Dynamics. I picked up my 17x7s on ebay for 600 shipped. They weigh about 16 lbs. The roads in MI are pure sh!t and I only bent one when I hit a 10" deep hole in the concrete at 30mph. They seem plenty strong. BTW I have the pro race 1s in anthracite. SEXY and waaaaay better value than the OZs.
Good hunting!
