Do you think you'll get any power gain?Or reliability issues
using a filter not specified by Saab?

Maybe 2hp gain. I'm looking to buy one because of the dirt holding capacity. The ITG blocks dirt down to 8 microns. It will let your car breath a little better also. You see more gains up high with it.

Maybe 2hp gain.

That and a "Powered by SAAB" sticker will get you about 5HP.

I'd be interested in knowing what the 'butt dyno' tells you .. as well as whether or not it makes the car any louder (to the point of obnoxiousness, or close).

There's no replacement for displacement .. how about a 2.2 or 2.5l stroker it .. now that's what I'm talking about. :D

If finklejag recommends this product..this gotta be all good.. :cheesy: :P

I bought the JR instead. I found out JR stands for Jetex Response. Jetex is a Swedish company that makes high quality performance exhaust. I have heard nothing but good things about them from fellow VW guys.

I couldn't wait another month for the ITG also

I've had a JR Filter for a little over a month now. It's supposed to get a liiiittle better gas mileage (I wouldnt know though, not the way I drive) and a little more intake air noise, and also a wider power range (a little more pull a couple hundred RPM's sooner than normal on through a couple hundred RPM's longer than would normally keep pulling).

No. They emailed me last week. They said that ITG will be shipping them out in 3 weeks. So you can expect them probably a week or two after that, if you order it. Too long for me.

i am not sure if you talked about it, but are you satisfied with it, and is it better than the ITG filter ? Thanks

The friendly UPS guy just dropped off my ITG filter today. Since it has been poring here on the east coast all night, I have't had the chance to install it (no garage) I will let you all know what I think after tomorrow.

I'm ordering mine straight from the UK ... and since its too dusty in this part of the world the nice person at ITG suugested that they handmake mine with some modification to suit Dubai's harsh conditions.... here's what they said:

"Thanks for your enquiry concerning our WB-607 pro-filter. This filter is a ‘fit and forget’ filter which is designed to last 60,000 miles (100,000km) or more, with no cleaning needed, other than removing large debris like fly’s etc. However this is based on general conditions here in the UK, not the dusty conditions that you encounter out in the UAE, so I am a little concerned that this filter may not be suitable for you. What we could do for you though is produce a hand made version of the filter which you would be able to clean out during regular servicing, as well as adding an extra layer to increase the filtration and dust holding capacity of the filter.

The standard filter on your car will be a paper element type, these work by trapping the dust on the surface of the element – hence the folds to increase the surface area. The problem with this style of filter is that as soon as dust starts to build up on the surface, the airflow capacity starts to drop causing a restriction and loss of performance. The advantage of using a foam filter like ours is, the dust is held within the filter itself, giving the filter a much higher capacity for holding the dirt without causing a restriction. This means that the filter will run for a lot longer without the drop in performance you would get with a paper filter. Another benefit with our filter is that the pressure drop from one side of the filter to the other is usually a lot less than a standard filter giving an improvement in throttle response as well as an improvement in fuel consumption.

With the dusty conditions you encounter in the UAE I would recommend cleaning the filter every 10,000 miles to ensure that the filter keeps performing properly. With the filter oil we are going to send, you will have to use petrol or another suitable solvent (I know Silkolene produce a specific foam filter cleaning solution) to clean out the filter and then re-apply the oil. This should take no longer then 10 minutes to do."

I thought i'd share this info with you guys ... please tell me what think...

Vector93 where is that review? I'm debating about whick filter to get since I have almost 18k on my car and should get a new filter. I'd like to hear if it performs well.

I finally installed my ITG filter today. Install was pretty smooth, but being over-eager I snapped little piece of one of the plastic hinges on the filter cover. No biggie as it doesn't affect anything and the cover snaps on tight with the torx screws in. Seated the ITG in there, closed her up and riced it up with the ITG stickers :cheesy:

The difference is quite subtle, the sound is definately noticeable but I didn't notice any real improvement in low-end response yet. I will drive around for a few days and post more details when I get a chance.

sam: the car has been fine, I have noticed a slight increase in mileage (~1mpg). The pickup is roughly the same (maybe the response at the low-end is slightly quicker) and the sound is probably not as noticeable as what people have been reporting with the J&R. That said, I can't say I am dissapointed it but I'm curious about the J&R and may try that filter too to see how it compares.

I just bought a Blitz SUS all metal mesh cone filter and i am going to take out the airbox and see if i can mount it. It looks like I need to have a tube fabricated so that i can mount the AFS. That, or find another airbox and cut the tube that has the AFS mount off of the rest of the box.

Just a thought, we'll see.
