Likely the very first since Saab's re-organization and impending ownership under K-egg.

I'm one of the people who really liked the 'born from jets' campaign... but this was a really really nice commercial. Kudos!

I thought born from Jets was cheesy and a significant step down from their old ad campaigns.

This is a good ad. I wonder if its for the Australian market only, or if we'll see the same ad elsewhere, (with a less Australian accent, of course :p )

This is Australian.. ;)

The gentleman talking at the end sounds very Australian to me, but UI guess I could be wrong, I'm not a linguist.

I appreciate the older SAAB ads as well, like this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAR_H_pZBKg&NR=1) and this (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=2421524116712089290&autoPlay=true)

And who can forget these? (1 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-6153393559867261273&autoPlay=true), 2 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=4460175750583583239&autoPlay=true), 3 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-2535044843427505202&autoPlay=true), 4 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-7175674356532542139&autoPlay=true), 5 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-4335794602101163284&autoPlay=true))

The earlier aircraft lineage ads (1 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-1123335299052453744&autoPlay=true), 2 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-5431934034928176825&autoPlay=true)) weren't bad either, but by the time the "born from jets" slogan came around, they lost me. They lost intelligence in a way. The earlier aircraft heritage ads tried to tell you something about the product.

Later ones were more like "Here's our car, LOOK JETS!, Wanna buy one?"....

I almost (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-7872810977168604786&autoPlay=true) forgot about (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=6045155096103857513&autoPlay=true) the Saab Vs. ads (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-5975464535700217950&autoPlay=true)...

I did too. I believe there was a lot of potential there, but it perhaps wasn't worked out well enough. I do like this new commercial a lot. For the older ones, I think I like the left/right sides of the brain one the most.

#5 = my fave

The earlier aircraft lineage ads (1 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-4335794602101163284&autoPlay=true), 2 (http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-5431934034928176825&autoPlay=true)) weren't bad either,

Carrier used in #1 is CV-16, USS Lexington, the last wooden-decked carrier to be in active commission (as training carrier) in USN until 1991 decommissioning. She's now stationed as the USS Lexington Museum in Corpus Christi, TX.

#2 - paper airplane ...... precursor to this new one ? :)

I can't check the above links at the moment to see if this was already posted, but the Aero X commercial was by far the best:

All I can say is SUCK IT GM!! WOOOO!

I love this ad so much and can't wait to see what the rest of the campaign looks like. I really can't wait for the 9-5 ads to come, and they have to get stuff going in the US SOON!! So much better than that GM garbage advertising. Anyone remember the one that went something like "Saab is the safest car, and it's made by GM. Does that surprise you?" I wanted to rip someone a new you-know-what when I saw that...

I have to say I don't understand what is so special about this ad.

It's not a bad ad, but nothing really stands out to me. There is nothing particularly clever about it, like the old ones, that used a comedic or other wise funny twist to point out the benefits of owning a Saab.

I too am happy the "Born from Jets" nonsense to an over-caffeinated soundtrack is over, but this to me is really just an average ad.

i'm just happy they bothered making an ad.something semi tangible that saab has a future.

i too rather liked the born from jets slogan.they i agree on the soundtracks.some of them were like getting stabbed in the face with an ice pick.

Its the trendy new "im doing magic things with my hands" like the HP commercials....
I think it draws attention, its cool & keeps the viewer entertained, the moose part is really neat, it gets all great points across to the viewer in a pretty simple way.. (environmental, innovative power, safety, etc *did born from jets tell us anything about this stuff? no*) and i think really takes a step toward giving the company a new image. The extensive use of white combined with nature gives off a strong clean modern Scandinavian feel, and really feels, most importantly, completely different than anything from the GM era of Saab... The great amount of paper used gives a "back to the drawing board" feel, like this is really a going to be a brand new company.

I think once they get their new image established and some new car models out they can get back into the clever marketing where they say, in essence, "smart people buy saabs". I hope the British accent is maintained in the US commercials.

+99 :)

I really wonder, had Saab continue to stay within GM, whether the BFJ slogan/campaign would ever get refreshed. I got the sense GM didn't care how long that theme would run ....... give the starving pup a bone to chew, as it were

So a rural Swedish accent: "Sm-aht people buys Saabs .... ja shoor, you betcha !!" wouldn't work, eh ? :cheesy:

i dunno. i laughed when the guy drew a line and then pulled an entire evergreen tree branch out of the sketchbook. it was that "two totally different things combined" type of funny.

He did sound very Australian. But you know what? Americans, as a generalization, tend to think that British and Australian accents sound intelligent, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was intended for the US market. However, I think a British female voice would be better.

You didn't like the Paul Oakenfold "Ready Steady Go?"

http://www.youtube.com/v/oQsz8LLvcOg&hl=en&fs=1

When I bought my Saab I downloaded this song and jammed to it in the car!! LOL at my dorkiness. :cheesy: Now when I hear this song I think of the happy time after I bought my first ever brand new car. Yay!

OK that was good. But I think that was an idea from Trollhattan offices, not Detroit.

Sorry to disappoint but the accent is definitely not Australian. Lean more towards British.
