Saab 9-3 SS is a BEST BUY!

ARLINGTON, VA -- In a recent series of frontal offset crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, all seven new or redesigned vehicles earned the top rating of good. The Institute tested three 2003 model midsize cars (Mazda 6, Infiniti G35, and Saab 9-3), two 2004 model minivans (Toyota Sienna and Nissan Quest), and two 2003 model large luxury cars (Lincoln Town Car and Mercedes E class). In addition to good overall ratings, five of the best performing vehicles earned the Institute's "best pick" designation.

I'm thinking this is why my insurance will actually DROP if I buy a new 9-3.

Insurance rates don't seem to take injury rates into account. They're much more concerned with how expensive it is to fix repairs to the car and theft rates for a particular model. Typically, car insurance doesn't pay for injuries to the driver, your medical insurance covers that. Car insurance (liability) does cover injury to others.

My insurance company tells me that Saabs are among the lowest rates they have for cars in their class.

Well in the UK, where we have the NHS and treatment is free, you have to pay if your injuries are the result of a motor accident. It's a technicality as the vehicle insurance pay it and it won't affect your No Claims bonus.
