Hey There,
Just wanted to ask if anyone knows something about Remington XT 120 Z tires. I recently purchased a 2000 9-5 Saab Certified Used Car and the dealer equippped them with these tires. I tried looking online and I can hardly find anything on this tire brand, who makes them, what other kind of tires they make, ect. Perhaps someone knows Remington's official web site? (I dont think it exists).
I wanted to get some basic info on this tire to decide if I should (1) get more sporty tires, and (2) if I should buy winter tires for my car if these will not be up to the task.
Any info would be helpful.

same here, I have never heard of a remington tire... I wonder if it is like a "k-mart" brand tire :)

Yeah. Seems that way to me. I still have yet to find any literature on these tires. I have no way of knowing if they are intended for the snow or not. I guess I'll just have to buy some winter tires.
Is there a de-facto winter tire for a Saab 9-5 with 16" rims?

Ya know, I have Cooper Cobra GT 215-55-16's on my car and they seem to handle like a charm!!! The person who owned the car before me swore by them!!! They are about 90 bucks a tire and seem to be great all year round. For the summer I will be switching to a 225/40/18 Yoko or Sumo tire and some nice Primax or other nice brand rims to make my car shine!!!
I looked at a local K-mart this weekend and didn't see any remington tires, I was in the dept. and remembered this post so I thought I would look. Anywayz, try the cobra GT's for a good all around tire, I think u will be happy

Here's a link to a few reviews of the Remington tires:

Seems there an "off-brand" of Dunlop.

Thanks for the info JCarpio and markjb01.
The latest issue of Consumer Reports has a little tire write up, but they never seem to devote any real attention to winter tires. I guess they assume that most people just use all-season tires. I live in Maine (USA), and I think winter tirs would be a good idea. I will be pricing out winter tires in the next several weeks, and have already begun to look around. So far, most places only seem to carry 2-3 winter tires, and I am starting to think that winter tires might not be necessary. Does anyone here live in a snowy place that has practical experience with Saab's with and without winter tires. I appreciate any feedback.
