Well i've had the boost turned up, i've fitted an intercooler, so the question is what is the next step to improve the performance of my car....nothing too expensive mind.
Any ideas?

Well, I'm getting increasingly interested in home made nitrous kits.

Bang for buck it has to be the way forward!

Just had to replace one head gasket, don't want to blow another one!!!
any other quick but effective mods?

A good exhaust system with an improved turbo downpipe should give you an extra 15-20 hp or so.

Oh, you will have to relocate the battery to the boot if you want the downpipe... But it's well worth the trouble!

I'm thinking of an uprated fuel pressure regulator, at the moment i think it's a 3 bar, i might go for a 3.3
i'm still waiting for delivery of a K&N type filter, so i'll see what affect that has, it's not the induction type, cause i can't find anyone who makes them for the 1993 Lucas CU14.

Don't bother with a fixed 3.3 bar as the Lucas system will cancel out any constant fuel pressure changes when it does it's self calibration cycle at idle. Go for the Trent RRFPR and set it at 3.0 bar - this will fool the ECU into giving you more fuel when you need it (boost and hard acceleration). If you can't remove the Cat (and you can't in the UK on a 92< car) any exhaust upgrade is going to be expensive as you will have to replace the cat with a free flow design. Saab exhausts are pretty good anyway and I seriously doubt claims of increases of 15-20 bhp.Don't expect power gains with a drop in filter either (sorry if you have already ordered this) - the main problem with the stock setup is throttle lag caused by the path of the air through the intake and airbox and not the filter itself. With an LPT you are probably not pulling enough air for even this to be a problem - however if you realy want to do it get rid of the airbox altogether and mount a cone filter directly on the AMM and use a cut down CV boot to atach the AMM to the turbo intake.
On the Chassis side - uprated springs are pretty cheap and easy to fit and will improve handling a lot but at the expense of a slightly harder ride -keep off rough roads!
Also if they have never been changed and you are around the 100k miles mark - Boge Sachs for Saab'sport' suspension shock absorbers from German and Swedish will help tighten things up at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for that, i've already changed the front shocks, got them from Euro car parts, the car has only done 80K, so not much wear, i hope.
i'll try the cone filter, i may be able to find an induction type for my car, if not i'll construct one like you said.
I'm not looking to go over the top with the mods, so no big fat exhausts or anything like that, just enough to improve the general power, response etc.

I should be on commision for this site really..............Simon can you put a link up for them?

http://www.filterpower.com

They do universal clamp on filters, measure the diameter of your amm meter opening and the size/power rating that you need.

Cheers for that, i've just ordered a K&N clamp on, so i'll see if it has any affect, apart from the noise that is!!!!
Oh and by the way, cause of the crap airflow round the intercooler, i've placed 2 ducting pipes in front of the cooler, and routed them down to the vents in the bumper, maybe it will give a better airflow, maybe not....

Well, i've now fitted the K&N filter.....woomph....the muts nuts, very nice, a perceptable power gain, and a nice roaring whistle.
Good Choice.

Why don't you place (i will) home make water injection to your car that should give you about 15-30hp. hp depend on your boost and intercooler. you can find lot of stuff and theories of water injection.
