: What color is this car?

I am tired of arguing this with people, so let's let the audience decide...

This is a 1986 SPG.

I have been told the color is Beryl Green.
I have also been told that B-green was not used until 1991.

The car does not appear to have been repainted at all.
The vin and the emissions label verify that this is an 86 model year vehicle even though the production date is 11/86.

What color is this car?

Are those spg panels the same color as the paint? If so, it's been repainted and could be any random shade of green.
I think 86 SPG only came in grey anyway.

It's really hard to tell anything in those pictures, it barely even looks green to me.

The panels are the same color as the car.
The car looks gray at night and looks green in sunlight.
Someone told me it is Beryl green.
At this point I am ready to scrap the thing if it has been repainted.

Wat? Location?!

Not quite sure what to say about the color. Got any bigger pictures?

yeah - why would you scrap it? Does it not even run? Seems like a waste of a kit and some spg wheels.

Also, the color code is given on the sticker on the inside driver's door. Your color code should be 159G. Which is Malachite Green Metallic Clearcoat. Let us know if that helps/is the right color.

Except that, for an SPG, Malachite is not an original color (IIRC). So, if that is actually the color, then it's either been repainted or it's not a real SPG. I think that's where the issue lies with the OP.

That being said, I love the color. Trade for '95 900S N/A?

I'm pretty sure it's not an original spg color too... but if the car's got a turbo, the kit, and the wheels... what's the difference really - besides some minor tuning ;) . Personally I love saabs in non-spg colors with the spg kit on them.... :D

That is probably the case. I know the main dealer here in Kansas City-George's Imports, actually offered the SPG kit as an add on. They have a great example of this still in their show room. It's an 89 with an SPG kit and wheels, but not in a normal SPG color. I asked about this and they said they were able to sell the kit as an add on when requested by the purchaser.

I bought the complete car from a kid in Nevada.
That was one year ago.
The engine and trans are out, as well as the dash.
The headliner looked like a tiger's scratch toy.
Suspension is toast.
The car has 260k on it, so a ground-up restoration is mandatory.
I only kept it because the body is straight and rust free.
I kind of like the color just because it is NOT typical.
I probably will hang on to it just because it looks cool in the driveway and blocks access to my 88 Airflow Cvt parked behind it.
The Airflow is the one I want on the road first.:cheesy:

Any chance you can get bigger pictures? It definitely looks like a good color.

Yeah, the color on there looks pretty good and I kinda like the matching panels.

I wouldn't worry so much about the paint being original if the body is straight and has minimal rust.

I looked in the door jamb and could not find a paint code decal.
I DID discover that the production date is 11/85, not 11/86 as I had mistakenly reported.

Every bit of info I have received on this car leads me to believe it is M-green.
It is so close to B-green, just a little darker maybe.

The body is completely rust free and I can only see 1 small dent that only shows up in low light/evening.
Insignificant as far as I am concerned.

beryl doesn't look like that -- its more "oceany" looking -- google beryl green 1991 SPG you'll see the diff. Also, I thought that malachite green I thought was lighter than that. I'd say its been repainted.

Malachite is a little less saturated, if you will (my photog side is speaking right now  ).

Hmmm.. I drive a Malachite and yours is definately darker than mine. So unless mine is really faded and yours is fresh I'm not sure that its Malachite. It looks good whatever it is though;)
