Just saw some interesting pictures of plastic intercoolers, the guy states that from 89- saab used a revised flow intercooler
Never heard of this before but the picture clearly shows the difference!!
So which ones are deemed to be best?
More chambers = more surface area but more restrictive to flow?
I believe the bigger passages, for improved air flow!!

The one on the left, i have on my 1990, 900 carlsson.
The one on the right is identical to one i removed from a E,reg (not sure of year) T16S i broke last year.
Doesnt a front mount IC fan impede air flow? Why not mount the fan on the rear of the IC and pull the air through rather than force it?

Also adding an air ram would help force the air through rather than having it escape around the sides

What year did they start using the new IC?
I have the one in left in my '87 T8, but that's been turbo converted in '93.
With the stock IC, it's also a good idea to ditch the headlight wiper/washers and route all the wiring round the IC rather than letting it block the airflow. All these are small matters, but with the very compromised flow normally allowed for the stock IC, all improvements are worthwhile...

Both intercoolers with plastic end tranks (blackstone) flow the same (internal flow) however the aluminum ones are crap really crap flow you can notice a diffrence in throttel responce just changein the ic
