I am looking for some summer tire recommendations for my '97 9k CSE, manual. Size 15. Thanks.

I really like my Nokian ZRi, which I believe are now superseded by an even better model.

You will need a 195/65 x 15 for that car and not much comes in that size that would give high performance. Those are pretty tall tires by modern standards. A 205/60x15 will fit but may not improve the handling. The sidewall height will be the same (to get the same rolling diameter) and the bigger tire will be heavier which is not beneficial.

I recommend staying with the stock size. Goodyear, Toyo, Yokohama, Kuhmo, Cooper, Dunlop, Bridgestone and the usual Eurosnob brands will all work well. I am a Eurosnob when it comes to tires so I like Pirelli first and then Michelin. The Pirelli P6 is supposed to be quite good for an all season tire. Michelin makes the excellent Pilot Exalto series in this profile I believe. I can vouch for the Goodyear GS D3 if they come in 65 series which I doubt. They have been superseded by the even better F1.

But check out the pricing on those Nokians and you might be pleasantly surprised.

First of all, with a rare last-year production '97 CSE, I suggest you look for some nice 16" Aero or Super Aero wheels before investing in good summer tires. In case you're not familiar with those two, they're here:

16" Aero

16" Super Aero

'97-'98 16" Super Aero

Or whatever aftermarket 17" wheels that would fit.

Frankly I think it's a bit of shame to put high-performance summer tires on 15" wheels. My $0.25
