I'm posting this for a friend. I searched and couldn't find an answer. wondering if the 9000's have a similar set up to the 900's where the engine oil pan is the top of the gearbox. A shop found a crack in the gearbox and its leaking. we are trying to figure if its leaking engine oil or tranny oil. thanks.
Since the transmission and the engine both use engine oil as lubricant the type of oil will not tell you where it is leaking from.
Since the sump and the transmission are in different locations, where the drips are will help you locate which component is leaking.
The sump is cast aluminum, hard to weld correctly.
