so
i bought a 1994 saab 9000 cde 2.3 turbo about a week ago
i put in the wrong code on the radio
and now it's locked up
how do i reset it?
whats the next step to get it to work?
thanks
Not sure if it works with Saabs, but usually if you switch the radio on and leave it for an hour or so (depending how many codes you've tried) that unlocks it. Worth a try: you've nothing to lose...
Not sure if this would work but what about disconnecting the main battery positive terminal for a while? even press the brake pedal a few times to help it drain any excess power in the system.. leave it an hour.. then hook it back up again and see if you have another chance to enter the code ;-) long shot but I think that works for some radios.
It only locks up if you put in the wrong radio code three times successively. Assuming you only did this once then you need to press the "band" button for more than 3 seconds continuously to clear the display and then you will get the "code in" display to allow a second attempt. If you input three incorrect codes THEN you need to leave the ignition on for an hour to clear the wrong codes and try again. If you blow it one more time you need to wait another hour. Or, you could disconnect the battery and start again.
