1993 ETS : What fails?

I've been looking for a replacement for
my 1992 9000S.

I've seen quite a few 1993's for sale
and have read that they have electronic
throttle bodies, that when fail,
are expensive to replace. My question is this:

What actually fails in the ETS? is it a sensor?
What is it? My idea is that it must be much cheaper
to replace only the electronic part that has failed.

If you can repair the little motor they are not costly, several usa vendors rebuild them for the thin end of $200.

There are a lot of extra parts to go wrong on any tcs system, and they require more service effort/costs. I have tcs on my 1993 Aero and it has given moderate trouble twice in 16 years. Could not keep driving a tuned 290+ hp fwd car in damp UK w/o tcs, it works.
