Tachometer fail :(

Hey guys,

Picked up a Saab 9000CD last week. Going well but yesterday after work I hopped in and the tach just stopped working all together.

This weekend I am going to pull the dash cluster out and look for any bad connections.

But two questions, is a bad connection behind the cluster the most likely scenario or is it common for the saab to fail elsewhere? should I be looking elsewhere?

and how do I remove the dash cluster?

Cheers,

J

Search the archive for dash top removal. Remove the dash top to get access to the instrument cluster.

You problem is likely due to a worn gear in the speedo pickup. It is a PITA to remove behind the gear box next to the shift rod.
