Broken wastegate actuator arm

Was under the wife's 93MY 9000 CS LPT this morning checking the vacuum hoses as it's been down on power. The hoses were fine, but the arm on the end of the wastegate actuator had corroded and broken off at the end where it goes over the pin on the wastegate. At least that explains the lack of grunt!

Am I right in the assumption that the only issue with having this would be a lack of turbo and that I'm not harming anything by running the car in this state (apart from being about 40 BHP down)?

Is it possible to get just the end of the arm or is it a whole new actuator that's required? Is there a simple way to test whether the actuator is functional?

It looks a real pig to get to, does anybody have any experience in replacing these?

Many thanks
Peter
