This project was a little unplanned but here is the story. I originally purchased my first Saab a 91 900s convertible. It ran great but needed a new top. While I was shopping for a new top I found a craigslist add for a 88 Turbo with a blown AutoBox but it had a (new top). It was just too good of a deal to pass up, I got whole car for $400 what a deal!!!

Now for the 91 900s, it still needs a TOP!! LOL!!!
So I decided to make the 88 Turbo my new project "Big Red". I found a (Totaled) parts car a 88 Turbo with rebuilt trans for $250 talk about another great deal!!:cheesy:

The car only had 100 miles on the rebuilt tranny before the wreck. It came with all the documentation from ScanWest. A $1700 tranny for $250!!http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=11862&stc=1http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=11863&stc=1
Oh! did I mention it came with a great running motor with only 90,000 miles!

Nice collection of cars. Starting to look like my place. Great shots, but they are too small to see detail. Create a Saabphoto or Flicker account and host your pictures there and then insert a image link and your pics will be posted on your post. The nozzles are fun idea. How are you triggering them? When I did my dyno testing this past Friday the operator would spray my I/C with garden hand pump sprayer after the big steady state runs. A little spritzing does wonders.

Hey Squaab,
I will work on the picture issue, this was my first picture posting and I found it to be a pain!! I will mess with it an see if I can some better pic's.

The IC cooler is supplied by an extra wiper fluid bottle mounted where the stock air box was and controled by a switch on the dash. I used a set of windshield washer nozzles mounted in the top IC cover. The angle of the cover work well for mounting the nozzles in relation to the intercooler.

Looking good so far saaber

i was wondering where you relocated the electronics when you did the cold air intake?
Where did you get those adjustable springs?

How many pounds of boost are you running?
I have a 1989 900t with an auto tranny.
i want to up the boost, but I am afraid of ruining my tranny.

Hey ooops,
I'm not sure about the boost yet. I haven't ran it since the new boost gauge install. With the stock gauge I figured about 12-15psi. As soon as I get my parts back from the welder to mount my BOV and my new Jak fuel chip, I'll have it back on the road. I will let you know!
The adjustible springs I purchased from Squaab, they are 500# afco springs and adjustible upper spring cups he fabricates himself. Nice quality, extremely easy to install and adjust. Great guy to deal with! You can locate him "squaab99t" on this site. PM him and he can give you more info.

Well I've finally got some better photo's now.

I've had an ongoing issue sense replacing my tranny, I have no boost! I've check and/or replaced every vacuum and IC hose. Checked or replaced all Bentley recommended problems. I opened my wastegate and found some serious crack issues.
http://i602.photobucket.com/albums/tt109/iman00_0/saab2010.jpg
I also found quite a few cracks in my exhaust manifold. So I thought that must be my boost issue, Im loosing it before and at the wastgate. So this week I found a parts car that came with a "NEW" turbo a motor with only 84,000 and a perfect top for only $450 bucks what a deal! OH! did I mention it came with the convertible cover in the case too!!

I replace the turbo and exhaust manifold, went for a test drive, STILL NO BOOST! Ok just shoot me NOW! I have checked, replaced, retightened, retorqued, everthing in regard to the APC and IC systems.

I am perplexed on what I have missed!

Did you remove/move/or replace you cruise control? The cruise control has a vacuum switch the cuts power to the APC with the cruise control is on. If you unplug/remove all the cruise components you'll only get base boost at best. It's mounted in the fender well on the drivers side where the APC used to be on your car

Thanks for the input 5speed, I guess if Im going to have a project thread, I should keep it updated!! I did find the issue, it turned out to be a restricted exhaust. Squabb99T came by and we worked out the issue! I unhooked the the exhaust at the 90 and went for a run!! "BAM" theres the boost! I replaced the cat and installed a supertrapp and runs and sounds GREAT!

Back from the exhaust shop. I had a new cat installed and replace the bad stock muffler with a Supertrapp.
