Just purchased my 93 9000 Aero with 34K miles. The vehicle has been extremely well taken care of. There is, however, a small rust spot just over the rear tire. I have taken it to two body shops and was suprised to learn that it should not be repaired since the problem will come back in 6 mos or so and most likely be worse than it is now. So, I am curious if it is really best to do nothing. I hate to let it get worse. How do you deal with rust?
take it to another shop and ask if there is any other options. There must be products out there to stop or slow the progress of rust, then find somewhere where you can have it fixed properly and professional like
Any rust is fixable. How much money do you have? To do it right, the rust must be cut out to good metal, then a new piece of sheet metal carefully fitted and butt welded. Its a time consuming and expensive process.
If you have someone else do it, make sure they know what they are doing. Its really easy to pop rivet some sheet metal on it and bondo over it but the seem wil soon rust unless because its not butt welded.
