View Full Version : installing a new motor
I`m considering to insert a Saab 9000t motor into my classic 900.But does it fit??If not, which mods have to be done?
I also have another type of question: Is it possible to aquire the aero styling somewhere?Like the sideskirts?
If it's a 2.3 it won't fit without modifications to the gearbox. If it's a 2.0 it will fit without too many problems, but there are still quite a lot of things to change over. I think I'm right in saying 9000's were all 16v and direct ignition. So you have to bear in mind the differences between the ignition, fuel injection systems, and wiring looms.

I had a H reg 9000 XS, it had the 2L n/a with the standard bosch ignition, not DI, the only major diff was the placing of the gear box.
Cool, could be one less thing to worry about

DI came in 1988 or -89, if I remember correctly, and so there are at least three model years of 9000 with the standard ignition.
Hopefully, the whole injection- and ignition system comes with the motor and is intact. It better, because it`s a 9000 T16 i think...

And about the Aero body panels, they can be found out there, but they are becoming increasingly rare. However, a copy of the Saab "Airflow" kit is being manufactured in Sweden at least.
That`s an uplifting news,I was afraid it wasn`t possible to get a hold of now a days.Have you got a web adress for the company in Sweeden or a name?
thanks for all the tips

OK, here's an address.
http://www.jms.cit.se
They have a complete bodykit available for the c900, and also the 9000.
Hm,not bad,not bad at all.Wonder if the vent covers and the "Whaletail" are included.
