well, everythings off now, all the bolts are out, chains and sprokets are off the camshafts, just gotta wait for somone to give me a lift getting the head off, my question is, any tips on getting it off without damaging the guides, will it jus pull off and clear the guides or is there a certain way to remove it, car is a 94, 2.3 turbo 9000
There are two lifting posts on the 9000. You attach the lifting chains to these posts and then hoist the head off of the engine. Be sure that you have all the bolts off, including the ones at that are underneath! Also, be sure that you carefully remove the old head gasket and do not scratch the surface of the head or the engine block.
Be sure to use the right torque procedure when reinstalling the head. Follow the bolt patterns and torque settings with a torque wrench and E16 socket. Also, drain the coolant, drain the oil, and replace with non-corrosive coolant and new oil and filter. Flush the radiator and cooling system. Use anti-seize compound on the head bolts. Buy new head bolts if the bolts are stretched. Use anti-seize compound on the spark plugs.
Use the hoist to put it back on, and possibly use some guiding thin wooden rods placed in the guide pin holes and in the cylinder head. Use an assistant to help guide the head onto the engine block.
cheers, managed to get the head off without any problems, just didnt want to damage the guide, i lifted it off by hand, thought it would have been alot heavier, just in the process or cleaning the head and checking for warpage

Clean all the oil out of the headbolt holes to prevent hydraulic lock.
