Does it crank a long time or crank slowly?? Some cars seem to take a little longer to start than others. There is another recent thread on this in this forum.
Can you try to bump the starter 2 times before the actual start try an see if that has an affect? That would assure a full pressure of fuel at the injectors before you started it. Did it help?
Have you replaced the spark plugs and the air and fuel filters?
It does not take a long time to crank, nor has it given any indication of not wanting to start.
The plugs, oil + filter are new, the air filter will be replaced soon.
My problem is that the car seems to crank slowly, hence my description as being lazy.. It's almost as if there isn't enough power getting to the starter motor.
I am relatively new to 9000's so wanted to ascertain whether "they all do that sir.."
Ok, Well given that it may be normal. My car has a new, bigger capacity battery and new cables and still does not spin over with the speed/sound of my son's ford or the wife's Mazda or my Dodge diesel for that matter.
Check the positive and negative cables just to be sure. My positive cable had all of the plastic melted off of it the last 6 inches going to the starter but replacing it did not change the sound or my perceived:roll: rotation of the engine. I could have used wire mould around it and wire ties but it scared me so I replaced it and I understand it is common for the positive cable to be like that on older cars that some owners may have let the starter run on during a no start.
Your started might be getting a little tired but I have no real answer on that. Like I said mine isn't a speed demon either when turning the car over but it is consistent on 73 degree days and 22 degree days so I think mine is fine. Also the car starts about the same length of cranking time at either temp. It does not start on the first revolution (perceived) like our other cars either :cheesy:
Is it supposed to? That I don't know. Anyone?????
