One of my headlights on my 93 9000cse is dim. I just replaced the bulb because the dashboard told me one of my front lights were out, but that didn't fix the problem and the new bulb is just as dim as the one I took out. What do I need to do to fix the problem?
The relay maybe suspect but first check the contact points of the headlight socket be sure they are clean and come into contact tight and proper with the headlight contacts. Then check the ground (-ve) wire for good grounding, sometimes lack of a good ground (-ve) causes the headlight to be dim.
Sounds like the ground wire has been severed somehow and the light is backfeeding. First swap bulbs just to be sure. Most likely its the ground wire. If you remove the good light socket and use a volt meter one terminal will be hot on low beam, the other hot on high beam and the third one is ground. when you figure out which one is the ground on the good side go to the bad side and with the lights off put the volt meter on ohms and put one end on that terminal and the other on a good bolt or the negative terminal of the battery (might be a long stretch to there) and see if you get continuity. If you do it might be something else, if you don't trace the wire to where it is screwed to the chassis.
There also may be an issue with the relays but it does not sound like it.
Hope this makes sense and helps........ John
