I have a 2000 Saab 95 and have done a search on alternative coolant options without a positive answer to my question. It has the blue coolant in the system and I have heard a few GM tech's say that if you flush the system and use common green coolant that you will have no problems. My question is, Has any one used common green coolant (prestone, ect) for a lenght of time with positive results?
Can I flush and refill my system with "green" coolant with no negitive results? Thanks,Valrune

Why go green? Zerex G-05 is chemically similar to the blue, is easily available, and has many years of successful use in Saabs (and other euro cars) behind it.

I have yet to find the Zerex G-05, Maybe I'm blind or not looking in the right place. Any direction/price per gallon is appreciated. Thanks,Valrune

The service schedule on the OAT coolant is 5 years or 150,000 miles while the standard green is every 2 years or 25,000. And having to change your coolant fewer times means less antifreeze waste. Less work and its eco friendly..... ;)

valrune, NAPA stores carry G-05, if you have NAPA's in your area. If not, e-mail Zerex and they will give you a name of a local store that carries G-05.

I'm probably the only one who's running this stuff, but it's been awesome. A full year after I flushed the green + DexCool combo from the previous owner, it's been rock solid.

Not a drop has left the system, and it's a nice clear pale yellow, so I can easily tell if it has become contaminated.

Amsoil advertises the Propylene Glycol as environmentally friendly, which is also a bonus. It's supposed to be long life as well.

Pep Boys also stocks the G-05. It is the best value as far as coolant goes...

I have been using the Prestone (green), any color coolant for a while without any issues (almost 30K miles). I flushed, and then replaced at 50/50 ratio.

I have the Saab blue coolant in the system now with no problems. I just want to avoid the Dex-cool nightmares that I have heard about.

We have all heard about them but no actuall proof to back them up:roll: . I have been running Dexcool in all of my cars for about 8 years now with no problems:cheesy: . So lets not start another bash of Dexcool. :nono; I have the Saab blue coolant in the system now with no problems. I just want to avoid the Dex-cool nightmares that I have heard about.

What is the best way to 'Flush' after draining coolant of oil and coolant coffee shake mixture due to oil cooler / thermostat replacement ?

Thanks
