Hello all!

This is my 84 T8

She was purchased for a bargain and came completely equipped with an 81 low compression engine and a rusted out radiator.

My intention for this car is to have a, as close to, new shiny red 900 with a little bit of punch. One that just might be able to qualify for collector plates here in vancouver (and entitle me to a full years insurance for 150$CAN !)

The project looks like this so far
-new windshield
-new steering rack
-new rebuilt engine and transmission (that matches my car's year)

anyone need some broken safety glass??

Alrighty! so nothing to fancy as of yet but I have been wanting to start this thread for sometime.

So, hopefully, this weekend will be nice out so I can begin the next phase of my plan: cannibalize a donor car for a steering rack.....

NOw you can drive it with your head inside the car.

That is the most rust free early c900 I know of.

But James, tell me this:

How does an alluminum radiator rust?

thats a good question......

If not the radiator then I don't know where but there is red particulates in my coolant and the car will boil over if the heat isnt on so.....

Hrrrm, but aluminum radiator will corrode and rot...I've have a couple radiator rot out in the bottom corners in the harsh maine winters...Now I paint the bottom couple of inches of a new radiator silver before I install it....

All for red flakes? Are you sure it's not rust from the block, stop leak from a previous owner or dare I say bits of gasket (maybe head gasket)

ahh good call with the paint on the radiator...the salt isn't too bad here in the winter but you never know......

So It looks like I have bigger issues to deal with at the moment......

It rained for the first time since I put the new windshield in, and I have a wet floor :evil:

worse still is that it does not seem to be entirely the windshield or even the windshield at all...I seem to have a sunroof drain issue.......

This is just awful: after flushing the drains with a hose (with the sunroof open) I closed the sunroof to discover soaking wet headliner ;oops:

I have my fingers crossed that it dries out and returns to the almost brand new state it was in to begin with..........

anyways, so the next item on the LIST OF THINGS TO DO!!!!!!
1.take sunroof off
2. figure out just what the bejesus is going on....... :p

well for an update we have the engine out of the car and are ready to put the proper 1984 engine back in.

The newly refurbished head went on and things look great. We got a steering rack out of the convertible parts car and need to fit it.

Any tips on how the heck to get the tie rods out?
