: Staples to Naples 1st to 4th October 2004
Anyone fancy doing Staples Corner to Naples in 4 days in a car costing less than £100? I've already convinced myself I want to do it next year! More information here...

and some discussion on the subject here...

I'm sure it would be great fun if we could get a few teams together ideally in multiples of two's or three's to enter next years event!
heavy_t 06-08-03, 10:04 AM Better put me down as a 'probably' for now
Matthew 06-08-03, 10:14 AM Same here, finances permitting.
I reckon I could be tempted to give it a whizz.
I've got just the car too!
Where's Staples Corner though? Sounds a bit foreign to me! :cheesy:

Bottom of the M1 - junction with the North Circular....
kevitree @ work 06-08-03, 12:11 PM Would love to go as a co-driver if any one will have me.
heavy_t 06-08-03, 12:28 PM Seems like we have enough people then. Surely one of these beasts could be a 99? Perhaps we could and represent all the models :cheesy:
The more cars the merrier...
Put me down as a probable as well! Type of lunacy I favour... :cheesy:
Edited (three times! - how can you make that many mistakes in one line?) for bad typing! Distracted by the Buzzard on my front lawn is my excuse!
We could also try and raise some money for charity, through some kind of sponsorship...

Well mine was well under the hundred pound mark....hmmm, ponder.
tandino 12-08-03, 08:15 AM Definately up for the challenge in 2004

jonnyt101 17-09-03, 02:00 PM Hi. First time on the forum so be gentle with me. Very interested in staples to naples for next year. How do we register? Just sold the ideal 900 for £75.00

Hi,
I am the organiser for Staples2Naples.
I've noticed your postings on Saab Central and hope you would be kind enough to post another message for me announcing Staples2Naples 2004. Its very strange, the 2003 event had 3 Saab 900s. Maybe a coincidence.
The new website isnt going live yet, but there is a mailing list available at its location which we are inviting (encouraging) people to join:
http://www.staples2naples.com
Regards,
Justin Clements
The West Country Massive are hatching a plan for this one
Watch this space 8)
nutcase 28-01-04, 01:05 PM Not something I can join in on, but if anyone needs any help with anything, let me know. Could probably scrape up a small donation too. Especially for anyone entering a 99
SaabScott 28-01-04, 10:14 PM We could also try and raise some money for charity, through some kind of sponsorship...
Will you have any way to take international donations?
I'm sure we could set up a Paypal account or something along those lines...
SaabScott 29-01-04, 07:26 PM I'm sure we could set up a Paypal account or something along those lines...
You can count me in for a small donation if you do that.
Anyone else willing to make that commitment?
I would love to go on this but must be realistic and say I will not have time.
To help things along, here is my donation if anybody wants to give it a go and do it! I have a good running 900i on an F reg (89 I think) that is MOT tested to March 2004. It has a very wet drivers seat due to a broken drivers door window. (I have a window that can go with it). It needs a new fuel filter as the washers on each end leak. I have not had it running but previous owner assured me it was all OK.
This car is available FREE to anybody who will collect it from me and undertakes to do the Staples run in it. After that they can do what they like with it. (It also will create a bit of space :cheesy: )
Of course, a bit of a "sponsored by" and my company name would not go amiss :cheesy:
Any takers?
You've got mail! :cheesy:
Bl00dy hell, that was quick! :cheesy:
Looks like I have a potential space in my drive and the Sheffield Massive mob have an entry! :cheesy:
Mark, any luck with convincing the missus yet?
I've approached the subject and am currently pulling 3 to 1 odds! Also have a couple of guys who may be up for the trip, both saab drivers
Thanks TFatC for the donation
I hope this works out :)

No worries! Mrs P is well trained (easily bribable)!

From the PMs I've had, I reckon we could fill the car three times over already! :cheesy:
Inspector Gadget 08-02-04, 03:28 PM the fenboy three are going in the fenboy funcar 900, all sponsorship gratefully recieved, will let you know the charity to benefit asap.

I'm sorry to announce that I have to pull out of this.
That means that the 900 that Nick (TFatC) very kindly offered is still up for grabs!
Anyone wanting to have a bash (but still without a car) should drop him a quick PM!
Matthew 14-03-04, 06:08 AM I'm sorry to announce that I have to pull out of this.
:( Could any other members of the Sheffield Massive S2N team take over?
How many teams do we have for this? Is it just the South West lot now?
How many teams do we have for this? Is it just the South West lot now?
Nestoaero was talking about putting a team together for this when we were in Belgium.
Which reminds me South West Boys, we have a slight technical hitch with our car: It looks like the starter motor has had it. I think we need to source another starter
Alanb
Matthew 16-03-04, 08:31 AM Are you sure it's the starter and not the solenoid sticking?
heavy_t 16-03-04, 12:46 PM If you can push start it then you're still good to go
Ha, thanks for the helpful suggestion Heavt T.
Matthew, here are the symptoms: turn the key, sometimes a delay and then the starter turns very slowly (even when jumped).
Alanb
Hi
I have a starter from a 1984 t16 if it is any good to you?
David!
David,
That sounds like just the ticket! Wow, great and thank you. Can you bring it to Kodak?
Once we have the pads, CV (which I think Simon is donating) and the starter, we'll have a runner.
Alan
CaptRossco 13-07-04, 06:21 PM Im up for this, TFatC, is the car still available? Any other memebrs? wanting to join the team? I could come get a gearbox at the same time? Ola
Yep, car still available :cheesy:
Has not been started for a few months so would recommend a trailer, but there are plenty of spares lying around! I will be home for 10 days starting tonight if anybody wants it! :cheesy:
Inspector Gadget 26-07-04, 02:45 PM Hi all, managed to get in with only three places left, nice car too 8) :o 8) look out for #110 lol

Hi Nestor, its a small world eh? Claudio flew home from Naples on Monday night and I drove the Corolla home alone lol... I'm sure he started the rally with the opinion of 'what on earth am i doing here' but by day 4 he was talking about what car we should get for 2005!! Andy and Chris from car14 are now good friends and James and Chris from car56 (Citroen BX) will not be forgotten lol Stay in touch
regards Les
Inspector Gadget 08-10-04, 04:09 AM forgot to post this link to the pictures from 'Team Bobbins'

It's really a small world....
Driving alone for all these kilometers must have been hard....we drove the vectra back and it took us 18 looooong hours.....and we were 2 drivers in the car....
Andy and Chris are very nice guys...as for the BX team, they were very brave to do something like S2N in that thing..... :D :D
I hope to be able to do it again next year..
Regards
Nestor. :D
Andy_T4 11-10-04, 09:00 PM Hi Nestor, its a small world eh?
It's really a small world....
It's a VERY small world!
Les is the Redbull king (or is it black dog!). I would never have even attempted to drive back in one go if I'd been on my own! Apart from 3 hours sleep that we all had, and Chris driving his car a couple of times (when they were too busy talking for Les to sleep!), he did all that way on his own 8)
Still can't help grinning when I think of S2N - it's gonna be a loooooong time to wait for the next one!
The Saab 900's looked good - might think about one myself for next year. Mind you, I've found a couple of Skoda Felicia's for under £100 (rally car replica, anyone?), and there's always that Volvo 240 hearse I saw.....
Great meeting you guys.
Keep the faith,
Andy :)

nestoraero 12-10-04, 08:10 AM Welcome Andy!!!!! :D

Inspector Gadget 12-10-04, 02:12 PM Hmmmm reminder: must get a new pair of takkies!!
How could i resist, another forum to desecrate !
Les, have just seen the article in one of your local papers that went to press in your absence (you were travelling home with us and Claudio had very nicely jetted his way back to old Blighty in the comfort of Easyjet !), excellent news for the Treetops kids with your charity donations. Well done guys (and say hello to our Italian speaking friend Claudio !).
Nestor, Fanis, was great to meet you guys, i think we're going to have as much fun looking for a car for you as we are looking for our own. Originally Andy and myself were in seperate teams. Due to issues with our own 'co-drivers' we ended up just fielding the one team but next year....... back to a team each. You thought we behaved a 'little crazy' when we were together, just wait until you see us in seperate cars. Those local BMW convertible drivers won't know what has hit them :)
Take care and for those of you who are thinking that this event could be a bit of fun, you have no idea how much fun, especially when you hook up with some of the otherlike-minded 'entrants'. Get your entries in early chaps :)
and breathe.............
Regards
Chris
Inspector Gadget 14-10-04, 03:42 PM Hi Cossie, welcome to our humble abode, although I think Saab's are the nutz , one must consider the fuel consumption on an event such as S2N, I am currently looking at Danger Scouse mobiles Fiat Tipo Turbo Diesel tuned to about 180bhp with competition pads returning about 50mpg, cheap as chips on Ebay y'know....
