Hello, few days back i found this portal and I would like to say that it is fantastic. I red through all topics and many of them were very helpfull, I also red your tuning guide which was a lot of help, It was the most helpfull guide on the net for me.

Almost a year back I bought my second saab, first one was a gift from my mother, a 2.0 95 donkey, It was amazing, second gear was just whoaa. 2 years later I found saab 95 2.3 troll (I only knew aero back then) which kinda did stun me with it's looks. It was very very fast too. It's been a year since that and driving this car was amazing. Now however I am seriously thinking about getting some more power from it. Some say that I am crazy and that there is no need, but I still want to do it.

After reading saabcentral's tuning guide I have a much more clearer picture of what to do. But still I do have some, well actually many questions. Please note that I am still young and dumb in this area so please be nice :D Since troll has this and that I can't fully use your tuning guide.

What I would like to do in near future:

*Performance air filter
*Injectors - tuning guide said red , I also saw black on the market, whats the difference between them? and how many should I get ?
*3" Stainless metallic race catalyst
*3.5bar FPR - I did find out that it regulates fuel pressure , but whats the difference when it comes to perfomance ?
*Better intercooler
*Larger inlet pipe - no idea what it does in simple words :p
*Delivery Pipe - no idea what it does in simple words :p
*better flywheel - no idea what it does in simple words :p
*Forged Pistons - no idea what it does in simple words :p
*Sachs Race Engineering 95 Clutch Kit
*induction kit
*Sports Camshafts - no idea what it does in simple words :p
*Gas Flowed Cylinder Heads - no idea what it does in simple words :p
*Limited Slip Differential - wheels are spinning a lot even now

Much later :D im thinking about bigger turbo and big brake kit.

Is it worth it to install 6 speed gearbox? Yes I am planing to stick with this ride for many years

Thats all that I could think of at this time.

Im not sure about the order in which I should fit those mods after intercooler too

WHat do you think about this? And please any comments, suggestions are more than welcome !

Jeeez, you don't ask much do you?

*Performance air filter not needed until 350bhp or more
*Injectors - tuning guide said red , I also saw black on the market, whats the difference between them? and how many should I get ? flow rate, you'll need 4, black are special order and for v high power outputs
*3" Stainless metallic race catalyst 3" downpipe with fast road cat and 3" exhaust are a nice combination
*3.5bar FPR - I did find out that it regulates fuel pressure , but whats the difference when it comes to perfomance ? only Nordic fit them as part of their upgrades, not really needed unless part of a specific custom tune
*Better intercooler good idea, FMIC works better than straight swap for OE fit
*Larger inlet pipe - no idea what it does in simple words :p looks good, nothing else
*Delivery Pipe - no idea what it does in simple words :p as above
*better flywheel - no idea what it does in simple words :p allows the engine/turbo to rev quicker, you lose engine braking though
*Forged Pistons - no idea what it does in simple words :p unless over 300bhp and using the power hard constantly....not needed
*Sachs Race Engineering 95 Clutch Kit aero clutch is good for 300bhp
*induction kit nice noise, nothing else
*Sports Camshafts - no idea what it does in simple words :p gives more power but a lumpy idle making the car more difficult in normal driving conditions
*Gas Flowed Cylinder Heads - no idea what it does in simple words :p ditto
*Limited Slip Differential - wheels are spinning a lot even now very expensive unless you get a deal from quaife

Much later :D im thinking about bigger turbo and big brake kit. do it as you improve the power levels, as well as a decent suspension setup.

It's always best to start with a specific goal in mind. Plain and simple, how much power do you want the car to produce and what driving conditions will you face on a regular basis? Is handling important to you? There are no mention of suspension upgrades. What about braking? Will you see any track time or exclusively street conditions? When you see a company advertise a part and say "good for 10hp increase", don't believe it.

Kermit, I have to disagree on the inlet pipe. It's going to allow more air to the turbo....maybe not a huge increase but it's still an improvement.

Thanks for your answers Kermit! Yes I do ask much :p but I did warn that im noobie :) But why do they make parts that has no apparent use in terms of performance? Or are you just messing with me ? :p

I had 420 bhp in mind. As goes for driving conditions I want it to be a powerful everyday car , would also want to drive in track on weekends. I didn't mention suspension upgrades because car has hirsch suspension upgrades, it sticks on the road very well. I am thinking about lowering it though, brakes are good aswell, but will probably need upgrade after 350 bhp and I don't know what to do with them, red on the forums that better brake pads could be a start. I won't believe, I promise :D

May I ask what you guys would do in my place if you wanted more power ?
My car has 280 bhp at the moment by the way.

Because they want your money ;)

Not quite but there are certainly some which add very little especially compared to their price.

Personally I think you sould decide on whose software you want to use and then follow their hardware recommendations to achieve it safely and reliably.

That's Maptun's package for the sort of power you're looking at. People with these levels also seem to have upgraded springs, shocks, polyurethane mounts/bushings all over etc. Might want to check that's all ok. Seems to me though that if you ring up a specialist like Saabflite or Nordic (search Nottingham Saab), they're happy enough to give you some advice, although obviously being in Latvia that may not be too easy. An email couldn't hurt.
