Hi All,
This weekend I just installed the Pioneer AVIC-D3X package in my 2003 9-5 Aero. I have the AS3 system and I was able to hook up the RCA outputs from the headunit to the factory amp without a problem and picking up those ground loop isolators did just the trick to get rid of the pop in the speakers when turning the system off. I am a novice with the car audio stuff but fortunately there is a ton of great info on this site which helped the process go very smoothly for me.
One thing I forgot to take care of was the regular FM/AM antenna adpater required. Can anyone tell me exactly what kind of adapater I need? Browsing around I am a bit confused, there seem to be a few kinds out there. Would this adapter work?

or do I need the 40-vw12 model?
Beyond the antenna adapter I had two other questions just with how the general wiring works in the 9-5. The first is since there is no accessory switch the key needs to be in the on position to turn the head unit on, but now unlike the stock unit the aftermarket will turn off when I kill the engine. When I think about it I can only theorize that this was more of a feature of the stock unit that since maybe its also connected to the I-Bus that it can read the key position after its been turned on and operate off the constant power line until i remove the key. Anyway, I was just curious if anyone is familiar with what I am describing and if perhaps there's any way around it to get an aftermarket head unit to behave like the stock unit in that manor.
The other question I had was regarding the headlight sensor. When looking at the pinout chart for the saab its clear that there's no connection for the illumination wire for the head unit. I'd really like to have the unit be able to sense when the lights are switched to the on position though so taht it can automatically switch betweent the day and night modes of operation. Can anyone direct me to how to tap in to this?
At any rate, any info on any of the stuff I mentioned would be great. Thanks again for all the great help this site provided.
