got tax return from my CPA and looks like I'll be getting some extra cash soon so I'm finally thinking of doing my first mod.
has anyone tried this front strut brace?

if so, what do you think of them? was it worth the $$?

I'm not sure about the usefulness of this as a first mod. The biggest gain you'd probably get would be by going to a better strut set up, either Koni's or as i have some Bilstein HDs.

On that note i'd be curious if someone can direct me to a RHD drive version of this...or to let me know if this one will actually fit on a RHD car? Picture looks the same in the engine bay...

If only someone made a reliable subframe brace :(
Yours finally give out on ya? Mines still good and I've given it several good bonks lately!

I'd also spend the money elsewhere, but it depends on how much you want to spend. Suspension is always a really fun mod because it's so obvious how much it helps. My first mod was the Taliaferro Sport Tranny mount. :p $35 well spent if you ask me! :cheesy:

how hard could these really be to make? i feel like you could have one made for around $150. all your money will be tied up basically in labour.
Hard. There is a slight bend to go around components in the engine bay, and guess what happens at that bend when pressure is put on the brace in a corner... It bends more. That is my guess as to why this brace has been found to not cause much of a performance gain.

If someone found a good solid point to mount to against the firewall, we could bypass this problem by making it so that the bend is supported by the firewall. Problem is, how do you know if the firewall is strong enough?

but but but.....those Bilstein HDs are soo much more expensive
What's a target price you'd like to aim for? If you don't mind me asking.

Kermit: I just noticed, are you not a moderator anymore?

But your shocks will go (simple fact of owning a SAAB) and the Bilsteins will last forever.
good point but the ride on my aero is already rough enough for driving around in the city and I'm afraid that installing BilsteinHD will even make it even worse.

I found that the Bilsteins actually improved my ride comfort as there was less wavy-ness (its a technical term) over bumps and the car rode flatter

A few of us think something went wrong with his install because his post makes it sound like it is really a hard ride, so I'd say take that thread with a grain of salt.
