does anyone on here have universal 5 lug wheels on their car....i was wondering cause i was looking at a few sets on ebay and some looked pretty hot and they werent that expensive...but will they work for our cars and will i need spacers or anything of that nature....the lug pattern i was looking was 5x100/114.8 and was a 40+ offset...bad or good idea?

Our wheels are 5 X 110; so 100/114 won't fit. You can make a 108 or 112 bolt pattern work as long as the hub is sized properly; but you may need shuffle bolts (I think?) in order to fit thses right.

i know ours 5x110.....but i thought the 5x100/114 meant it fits all sizes in between those numbers...

Aah. I could be wrong but I believe it means they have the two bolt patterns pre-drilled to fit more cars; not any in between those numbers no.

Universal wheels should have 8 or 10 holes drilled in them, depending on whether they're for 4-bolt or 5-bolt hubs. They only fit two different sizes.

Universal rims either fit 2 sizes of 4 bolt or 2 sizes of 5 bolt rims. In this case, they have 20 holes fitting either 5 x 100 or 5 x 114.3 size. So yes, they will fit your Saab. Just make sure they don't have some kind of crazy offset do they don't rub your struts or fenders. That probably won't happen...just being cautious. I'm not sure what the proper offset is supposed to be though.

No they won't, as Saab 5 stud has a 110mm PCD.

so i guess universal isnt so universal....if they only fit 2 sizes...but then again when something is universal...its not universal in the saab world...

i dont think i'd ever take a chance with a wheel unless i could put 1 on the car before purchase. for fit, and to see if you actually like how it looks. Plus the universal stuff - I wouldnt trust the quality.. But I guess you could tell people the other 15 extra holes in each wheel are to make it go faster. aerodynamics, yeah, thats it! :o

yea im just gonna look for a set of 5x110 that are made for saab's...like a set of saab wheels from a newer model...17inch of course...id rather spend a few extra bux and know that their quality and that theyll fit perfect...

usually, theyre are a few sets of 17' Viggen wheels available on ebay. I've heard a lot of people say in threads that the actual Saab built ones that came with the Viggens were soft, but i guess theres been some update within the past few years on the stability. I'd go for those, i like a lot of peoples wheels on here, but, the viggen 5 spoke look extra mean, and they're made to match the car.

i herd the same thing about them being soft....but if ur careful and try not hit curbs and run into pot holes, you shud be fine...lol....plus when i get new wheels their only gonna be for the spring and summer...im gonna use my stock vikings for the fall and winter...

IMO the double 3 spoke is the best looking wheel Saab ever made other than the TurboX's wheel; even better than the Viggen wheels (and it is stronger too). :cheesy:

If you look around you can usually find them for right around $200

I agree 99 - those wheels are pretty sweet. I was considering those as well.

No; 2002-2003 9-3 Double 3 Spokes. They are the wheel in my avatar.

Or here is a larger shot :cheesy: :

That should be good with rubbing issues too; 215x45 section on the rubber will finish the job.
