I am in the process of getting a 2008 9-7 altitude edition, I looked at a couple of models and the an Aero edition. I was inside and attempted to set the memory mirrors, driver seat and pedals. I followed the procedure, and the driver seat and the pedals went into the set position, but the mirrors failed to go to the correct position. I had the salesman attempt it as well, but no luck. Also, the curb view feature, in which the passenger mirror dips to the curb when the car is in reverse did not function on either SUV either. It lists both features in the 2008 owner's manual and these are features on the 2007 model. Since neither work, they must somehow be related. Also, it lists the option to activate curb view in the manual using the Driver Information Center, but it does not come up as a selection. Is there something that the service department needs to do, flash software or something? I want this resolved before I pick up the car, any ideas?

I think you maybe right about the mirrors too. Using the memory set buttons for two drivers recalls seats and pedals but not mirrors. I know the dic can be used to activate memory through key insertion or by remote. I will check that later to see if that can move mirrors. Per the manual pressing the memory button 1 0r 2 should adjust mirrors if set differently. This would be a pretty bad oversight.

My NJ dealer is looking into the lack of mirror memory. My salesman agrees it should be on the vehicle. He has a vehicle going into the shop for this issue now. He promises to report back with the results.

Which dealership are you using. I am planning on getting my car from Parkfield Saab in Rochelle Park, NJ (Bergen County). The service manager said it should retain the memory position. I suspect there is a tie in to the curb view feature as well. I would be quite disappointed if what is listed in the manual and was a feature in 07 is not active--could be a software glitch. Also, note the previous poster indicated that his curb view feature/mirrors work as described. This is my 3rd Saab and would be less than pleased if the features do not work considering we are paying for them, so to speak. Both features work on both the 9-3 and 9-5, all variants with memory function. Let's keep on top of the dealer to resolve this. I haven't picked up the car yet and want it fixed before I take delivery. Thanks--Ben

I bought from Parkfield. I suspect the 97x they r troubleshooting might the one your considering. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of it-one way or another.

Bad news. Dealer called. Your right. With curb view dropped there is no longer mirror memory regardless of what the manual (maybe even the window sticker) says for 2008. It is incredible. I'm not sure what to do about it since it does make you feel your not getting what you paid for. Thoughts???

I doubt there is anything you can do. I agree it stinks because was a very nice feature.
A bigger question is why would they bother to delete it? Where would the logic be in removing a feature that obviously worked?

Does the vehicle have to be in reverse?

Yes if curb view was actually installed. It is mystery why they deleted that feature and just plain stupid that memory for the mirrors was dropped.

I contacted SAAB USA and they said the feature is not available. I indicated that it is on the window sticker and also in the manual. I was wondering what recourse (i.e., class action lawsuit or threat thereof) to have them correct this. A previous poster noted that the feature works in Canada, why then not here? I really want this corrected for one, because it is a documented feature and worked in previous years so the technology exists. Also, I have more than one person using my car so the mirrors need to be adjusted. Additionally, similar cars have both features as well as more. I am surprised that parking assist is not available on this model. I'm sure it could be a simple fix if enough of us complain. We know that besides myself someone else also asked Parkfield Saab in Rochelle Park, NJ. HELP...

I wrote a letter of complaint to the Saab US brand manager, Steve Shannon. I would like some satisfaction. But regardless try to enjoy your vehicle.

I am thinking of doing the same. Please post the address that you sent the letter to and a copy of the letter. I will send a similar letter now that I have the car for a week and have been giving this some thought. I brought this to Parkfield Saab's attention and they said they contacted "technical support" and it can't be fixed. When I called Saab Customer Service I asked to speak to tech support and was told I could not. The rep was quite rude, despite me being composed and asking for assistance. The final straw was when I asked to speak to her supervisor and she refused and said, "Look, they'll give you the same I answer I am telling you, so there is no need to speak to I supervisor." I was shocked and then she hung up on me. This was on Wednesday of last week and she was kind enough to give me her name, Nicole. So I can add that to the letter as well. Surely, other 2008 9-7 owner's other than 2 people are displeased with the fact that the items were "removed" If enough people complain maybe they will issue a TSB and a "kit" to fix the problem.

Any luck of getting resolution from Saab USA and the power mirror/curb view memory issue? I can't believe that they removed a feature that was in the car since inception and yet continue to document the feature. Although I am the only driver of the vehicle, many times after taking the car into the car wash the mirror is moved out of position and the memory feature came in handy to return it to its correct position.

Watchez, were you given any information from Saab USA? I have not had anything done and the dealership says, despite the owner's manual, the feature is not available. Seems quite silly that they would remove the features. Most all luxury/near luxury brands that have memory seats, steering wheel, etc. also include memory mirrors. I wonder what would be needed to "fix" this issue ourselves...can't be more than a part or two and some software? Otherwise, I love the 9-7 and was very pleased with its performance during the two recent snow storms in the Northeast.

Who did you have to contact tp get the $100 certificate. I also got the 9-7 from Parkfield Saab and have the same problem. Please advise me on contact information, email address, name, etc. so that I can request one. Personally, I would much rather have the feature functioning...but if this is the best that can be done. Thank you in advance. Ben

Please send me a private message with his email address so I can contact him. Also, if there is any reference/case number, etc. please include that so I can refer to it when I contact him. Interesting that it is "to complex" to retrofit? Did he offer any explanation as to why it was discontinued? It really is/was a useful feature even when there is only one driver...I used it in my other cars when they got moved from going through the car wash :( I wonder if the mirrors from an 06/07 model could be added or if it involves more than that... Also, an earlier post mentioned that an owner from Canada, I wonder why some had the features while others did not. Just an FYI...I did some research and some European models of the 9-7, Trailblazer, GMC Envoy not only have memory mirrors, but also a power-fold-away feature like Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and others to fold the mirrors in electrically when parking in tight spaces...neat, huh? What do you plan on using the certificate for?? Thanks in advance.
