I realize that many luxury SUV's have either parking assist (sonar) which beeps when you back up (actually the 9-3 and 9-5 has it...Saab Parking Assist) or have a back up camera tied to the Nav Screen. Has anyone added either of these features or had the dealer do it. I am planning on getting a 9-7 and want to know of any aftermarket options...Saab does not seem to offer it from the factory.

I got mine with parking assist from the dealer. I guess they use the same they put in the 9-3 and 9-5.

How was this done? In the US they are telling me that it's not available. What were the parts numbers and costs etc. How does it look and could you please post pictures. My last 3 cars 2 of which were Saabs had it and it was a real helper! Also, is there a switch to turn it on/off or a visual display or just an audio beep or is it programmed through the Driver Information Center. Could it be an aftermarket kit? Please help...I plan on getting the car some.

Its just the beeping. I don't have any pictures I'm afraid. Maybe I'll remember to take a few tomorrow, when the sun is up (its 6:30 in the evening here). I got it from the world's largest Saab dealer - Svenska Bil.

No disrespect-have a 9-5 with this option-works great for a smaller vehicle...Would it be easier just to turn around to see what is behind YOU in the 9-7X? The B and C Pillars in this vehicle give GREAT views....Being over 6 foot tall,never had issues "seeing whats behind me?" Reversing is simplified from other SUV's owned in the past. Just my POV

I agree and always look in the rear and side view mirrors, it is just that I liked the "extra protection" in judging how far to back up. I am not as tall as you and even when I had the 9-3 convertible, it was nice to know that I could back into a spot a far as I could. With the 9-7, I find it a bit more difficult to judge the distance.
