I live in NY and its pretty darn cold up here. On mornings when it is below 30, I've been noticing a small grinding noise coming from my front end. It seems to be coming from somewhere close to my drivers side, close to the tire. It only makes the sound as I'm going from a stop and when the car shifts into 1st and then 2nd. I have an auto and it doesn't make the sound in any other gear.
The weird thing is that it only happens when it's cold and will stop after i've driven the car a bit. I figured I'd see if anyone had any similar things happen to them or if anyone has some advice. I'd hate to let this go and have it turn into a bigger mess!!
I did just put new front rotors and brakes on, but I want to say that it was doing it before. I have some time off next week so I'll have to do some inspection work.
I just saw this post. It looks like this person to was having some noise when it was cold. I'd like to try this, but have no idea what I'm looking for. Any suggestions or pics I could use??
"if its creaking... its merely the poly bushings in the suspension members.
They tend to do that when its cold out.
Spray some silicone lube on the bushings themselves and see if that alleviates the problem."

This noise is not hard to miss. It is a loud creak when going over bumps in sub-zero weather before the car gets a chance to warm up and is caused by swaybar rubber bush - item 13 in pic.
How would i be able to tell if it's the wheel bearing or just a creeky bushing. I did see a thread in the FAQs about the creeky bushings and wouldn't be too worried about that. I would like to get the bearing checked out so I don't cause more damage, if that's what it is.
I believe Diosnoche is correct about the SAI pump - simply disconnect to isolate - if the little noise continues, then it is ,in all likeyhood, the sway bar bushings - use silicone spray to isolate/fix...
I think that I'll try to disconnect the SAI to see if that's the problem. I looked using the search on how to do that and didn't come up with anything.
I did just replace the front rotors and pads. I can't remember if the noise was before or after that. Either way, i'll start with that and then go from there.
Thanks for all the great advice!!!
