Just picked up a 1999 9-3S about a week ago. (Pics will come soon-ish. ) It's black, got 94,xxx miles on it, heated cloth seats, 5-speed, new brakes, new tires, original DI, spare DI in the trunk, steering wheel, windshield wipers, etc. I have two questions, though.
1. Last night, it was rainy. I parked my car around 6PM. As I'm about to go to work today at 3PM, I noticed the rotors were really rusty/oxidized/whatever, and you couldn't really see the streaks where the pads come in contact. I thought it was weird (seemed excessive), but I didn't think much of it. Then I backed up and hit the brakes. They felt sandpapery and made weird noises. I drove around the apartment building, braking periodically. The weirdness faded away, and when I parked and looked, everything seemed normal again. It's been fine since.
My question there is... should that happen that quickly (20ish hours)? Or did something not get lubed right when the brakes were done, or is something generally wacky? It seems innocuous to me, but I don't know much.
2. I asked the dealer about getting a duplicate key, and he recommended I buy one of the key-and-remote-all-in-one things off of eBay. He showed me the list price and his cost, and told me I could find one on eBay for about $25 + shipping. All I see on there now costs $40-60 + shipping. Was he exaggerating the price, or should I hold out a little?
Thanks
