I recently did an engins swap in my 1996 900, There is a terminal on the alternator I cannot find the wire for . It is a blade terminal. There was one small yellow wire with a blade terminal I put on a sensor in the block, maybe a heat sensor, perhaps it should have gone on the alternator. I cannot find any other wires. Any help?
The wires are color-coded. Yellow wire going to the engine block is the oil pressure switch. Black and green wire going to the alternator is for the battery/alternator warning light.
The yellow lead is for the starter solenoid, also yellow is used for the oil pressure switch, but I think the length will prevent an unintentional switch...and a short !:nono;
Good luck and welcome to Saab Central
Thanks to both replys,I misquoted the year , it is a 1996 but should be the same, the alternator has 2 wires on it now, red-power, and green -ground, does anything go on the empty blade plug, looks as though it may be a field wire but there is not one to be found.Thanks again.

Red, B + goes to the starter, then the battery +
Black/Green , D + goes to the alternator warning light.
The body of the alternator must be grounded to the engine.
Black is the ground lead color though out the car's electrical system.
Does you're alternator have a single blade terminal, mine has but I do not have a wire. Thanks

Only D+ and B+ terminals are used. You will notice no scratch marks on the unused terminals.Bosch makes alternators thru-out the world for a great many makes, many of these are interchangeable or share many of the parts..For all I know, the Mercedes, VW, and Saab alternators could all be nigh identical...
