I usually hear a hissing noise when a cat is confronted by a dog :lol: .
The cat is actually a really good place to start; a simple, albeit un-environmentally friendly, test is to crack open a joint and see if this helps [you should get a CEL though].
In our nutsoid country, if a man "cracks" open a joint.....:nono;
Use the heat measuring gun (Diosnoche), a working catalytic converter will generate another 50 degrees.
And if the "cat" is really causing a restriction, the car's starting would be slow and hard and overheating would occur.
wastegate stuck open - check that the actuator arm has not fallen off the wastegate, this is common, and a very quick fix. This would not make the exhaust significantly louder, however.
Check if the exhaust manifold is leaking at the head (bad gasket), or at the connection to the turbo. It could also be a cracked exhaust manifold, but this is very unlikely as cast iron manifolds are quite durable.
my friends brother was once told to drill a hole in the cat, if it runs the same your cat is fine, if it runs better than your cat is to blame the dumb ***** did it too
How would I go about checking so see if the WG is stuck open RED? If it is [is] this something that I should just replace with a performance version? I am intrested in updating parts to performance parts when they require replacement.
there's a little pin on the wastegate...if that gets out and the arm falls off than you have to boost. Take a look at the flexpipe too. I had a combination of no boost and loud noise and it were two separate problems. The noise was a rotten flex pipe.
I am going to place an order with GS for the O2 sensor and the silicon hoses. How long should it take to replace the O2 sensor? If I take it in or do it myself...
the seonsors are relatively easy to do...if you get pissed off quickly than bring it in, however I get pissed off quickly and I changed my sensors myself...

Spray the @$%$! out of them with PB Blaster then let it sit. After that, just un screw them like you would any other bolt. I used anti-sieze when I put mine back in. Took about 5min each.

Assure that no wire( or hose) stray too close to anything hot or sharp and that the connections are secure..
Neatness counts...except in computer system wiring...lol:nono;
Those with a short attention span or quick to anger should stay away from auto-mechanics........Confucius, 2.5 M ago..

Funny! Well perhaps I will see if I can get a handle on a lift so I can do it myself. If not, off to Beacon Motors I go...
